Couple of Tasty Games to start off - will be very interested in those results.

One would think Halswell takes the W, Possibly Uni over Waimak, SAS over Burwood.

Just posted on Mainlands facebook page:

In light of today’s tragic events in Christchurch we have decided to cancel all Football and Futsal that is due to be played in CHRISTCHURCH this weekend. This includes MPL and CCL matches and all Futsal to be played on Sunday.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Christchurch.
Make sure your family and friends are all okay.

Hearing players have left United for Bays, back to their old stomping ground. Any names in the mix?

Why would anyone want them back ? Only interested in themselves not the club.

21 Mar 23:22

I heard yesterday that Nomads played Utd and Bays in 2 consecutive Pre season games and around 5 players played in both games!

Good point for SAS as they finished the game with nine players.

23 Mar 05:55

AW82 - do you know if SAS finished with 9 players due to injuries or red cards??

23 Mar 06:00

What on earth happened to parklands, are they going to be the whipping boys this yea!?

Can only imagine that loss of players to other clubs and retirements have had an effect. Wish to comment benchwarmer?

23 Mar 06:19

Big ups to Parklands for live tweeting their game. Here was their match day squad today.

Kotahitanga. We are one.

To be honest first 20 minutes could of been 2 or 3-0 with a couple of sitters missed. Burwood capitalised on this and scored 3 in 10 minutes.

A few off par performances didn’t help and Burwood looked hungrier for it once they got back level

It was supposed to be a requirement in the CCL this year but was a bit quiet from other teams.

New coach is installing a professional image on and off the pitch, results will hopefully start to come from this

Sorry not sure, was only told finished with nine.

23 Mar 07:36

Both were second yellows. SAS look like they're going to be big contributors to Mainland coffers this  season.

Wasn't at the game as up in Welly watchingbthe glorious Phoenix. Report I got was that Burwood centre back got a late red for taking a swing at our striker, you know who. I think we scored about 65 and 70 minutes so not exactly late drama.

31 Mar 00:51

I was there, the 1st was a screamer from outside the box from the right back, good atmosphere at the A & P Showgrounds, probably around 100 people watching.

Really physical but thoroughly entertaining game, lots of body to body contact, which left a few frustrated and is probably where the red mist came from their centre back who took a swing at a Waimak player off the ball but right in front of the ref and lino.

After watching parklands last week and their other 2 results it's looking like a very long season for them. Might have to get calculator out later in season

You could be right, they are building rather than having a set team. Not all teams can buy in players, and they are looking to give youth a go. Hope they improve as it is good to see smaller clubs try to build the proper way.

Managed to watch yesterday and it was mainly sloppy defending otherwise not a bad game. I don't like to rubbish officials but  the lino missed 2 offside goals (clear)  because he was 3m behind play and the ref let a lot go (both sides) including a certain you know who calling the lino a "f-ing c" across the pitch so the whole crowd could hear - yet ref did nothing.

I would be more concerned as a Halswell fan with losses to SAS and Burwood and only a tight win against UFC. They had sme great youth players so not sure what is going on

Halswell I think lost a few guys due to universities (some to Dunedin?) But I’ll imagine they will be back soon. Have heard from someone that saw both Christchurch United games so far that they turned the tempo up more yesterday. Was that down to the oppositions or them taking advantage?

Next week is Universities v Parklands so we will have a clearer picture then

Halswell the bye.

19 Apr 11:35

Great effort today from the Burwood lads. To be fair Chch $$ United had most of the ball, but did bugger all in the scoring zone. Shots on target in my opinion about the same. Winning goal scored off a dodgy bounce. Up 1-0 they shut up shop - dangerous decision but worked.

20 Apr 09:25

As a neutral watching I have to say that the score was very flattering to Burwood. They never looked like scoring although they played with tremendous enthusiasm. United controlled the play well but they were never tested in the attacking third apart from the exceptional Burwood no 10. If Ccl teams show some ambition against united they will be tested.
