Table looks interesting with just over one round of games. Two teams potentially overachieving given their respective past seasons. Chch united dollars look too strong as was always going to be the case. Halswell and uni, two of the bigger clubs in recent years seem stuck in mid table at the present. SAS haven’t got any points since there first two games if I’m correct? Hard to see them picking a heap more points after watching the game vs waimak, especially given they arguably lost their best attacking threat. Would be good to hear other people’s thoughts on the league so far.

Having seen Chch United play a few times and a handful of  MPL games I think they would comfortably be top 4 in MPL. The Russian has obviously learnt that buying 3 or 4 players doesn't work so just buy a team . Can't see how they will lose a game this season. Waimak by comparison have a predominantly home grown side . They have kept on getting results despite being ravaged by injuries past few weeks. Burwood compete week in week out. and are so hard to beat. Halswell are such a young side with so much potential but haven't realised it yet. Uni, Parklands and SAS have the ability to cause the odd upset but will battle out the bottom three positions.

Unfortunately the CUFC money is going to get them promotion. Not sure about top 4, but we will see next season, I'm sure they'll grab a few more players  to compete. All other clubs are mostly home grown and ave had injuries. Uni and Halswell will be disappointed and Burwood are doing well. Being cynical, generally clubs are waiting for the annual melt down with Waimak. The next round will be interesting

You'll be hoping that next week is one of those weeks we can pull off an upset then Gaffa :)

SAS do not have the players to compete with or without Juan.

The SAS Div 1 side would spank the clubs 1st team and in saying that the Div 1 guys have had their best player out injured from early in the season. Div 1 need a good coach not just a manager.

Hard to call SAS a club then??? More like a few teams playing under the one banner. Surely it's in their interests to have as strong a team playing? Or are they thinking that their Div 1 position is more important to keep?

Agree with you about United being top four Gaffa, think they would make the South Island league with the squad they have and should only bolster it with promotion. Waimak Burwood will be an interesting battle this week. Halswell hve a young side which will hopefully be better for the experience, especially when untied aren’t in the CCL. Wooden spoon definitely blood like a more intriguing tussle the any promotion race.

It will be interesting later in the season when the games against the MPL bottom 3 happen too. These could be the difference in this table

Isn’t there still 11 games to go for Christchurch United? 4 in the current format then the remaining 7 games that involve the MPL bottom 3 but results still count for this?

Yes I was only referring to winning the CCL, no mention of promotion to the MPL just yet.

The remaining games count towards the CCL league as far as we’re aware and the overall title

I know FC Nelson were talking about it earlier in the season at they are currently on top of the Div 1 in Nelson, unsure about teams in Blenheim.

Last season was called the Mainland Play-off series so assume it would be somethig similar this season, with the highest placed team in play-off series from the CCL earning the right to either go up or go in any play-off series if any club that wins the Nelson Bays and or Marlborough Div 1 are seeking to play on the MPL.

Hope the feral mob of parklands supporters don’t blow all of this weeks pay on celebrating that result

Hearing there’s a bit of unrest at Waimak, at least from a couple of players! Bit of a shame as last night was a great game to be involved with.

For a Waimak v Parklands game it was played in good spirits without some of the agro from previous years

Don't think I would call it unrest. A couple of individuals have spat the dummy, probably because they were frustrated over their lack of contribution. Won't be missed. I suspect their departure will see a more unified side for the rest of the season.

Parklands however showed how far they have progressed. They were extremely energetic and enthusiastic last night. Took their chances and deserved the 3 points.
