Any more info on the Waimak default? I see their reserve team had a good 13-0 win, could some of them not helped out?

Heard they only had 10 players for WPL & I'd say that most in the WPDL wouldn't be allowed to play in the WPL due to age/dispensations.

Some of the WPL players played WPDL

Wonder if the players will have to do the sausage sizzle at Kendall Park for the rest of the season to pay the 2K fine

Thought rules state you must play with 8 ;)

Surely at least 1 of the WPDL was eligible to give them 11 players

And is it fair that WPL players then went on and played for the WPDL and helped them win 13-0?

Rules don't preclude it; but probably about as fair as Cashmere stacking their WPDL team with WPL players when first team had the bye and reserves played Coastal on 2 occasions last year.

Anyway, why were Waimak unable to field a first team; surely it wasn't fear of a hiding.

Kotahitanga. We are one.

Coastal's Rebecca Lake and Lily Bray both played for the NZ Under 17 side (coached by Gareth Turnbull) over night going down to China 6 - 0, in China.

Rebecca played the entire game with Lily coming on in the 60 minute. The NZ U17s now play Canada on Thursday and Japan on Saturday.

In other news, Bel van Noorden formerly from Coastal, via FC Twenty11 and Avon Utd, (currenty playing for Glenfield Rovers in Auckland) is heading to the USA to play for Pittsburgh Univ.

congratulations to Cashtech on yesterday's win. Tough day at the office??

On that, definitely think the South Island league is where it's at.

Much better to travel south each week for those results.

Yeah based on that result South Island league sounds like a great idea. Let's all waste endless amounts of money paying for travel and accommodation so we can play in a league that creates even less competition than we currently have in Canterbury. And at the expense of developing the young talent we have.

I don't think a Southern League should be written off on the basis of 1 result.

Cashmere Tech have given most sides in the WPL a thrashing this season (99 goals in 14 games) whilst Roslyn are sitting 3rd in the Dunedin league and have conceded 5+ against the 2 top sides in

In saying that I don't think a full season of travelling football is necessarily viable but a South Is. Championship involving 4 teams could be an excellent stepping stone to the National League.

This coming from a coach at a club whose Women's team got beat 23-0 and then defaulted the next game. How is that developing young talent?
