it is in their own hands - I guess it comes down to them being able to hold their nerves.

They drew with Petone 2nds in the weekend but from what I've heard they are the best team in the league.

Its no longer a problem.

my top 4 in no particular order, naenae, miramar, olympic and marist

I think naenae and marist have done well, both teams that are the top of their club and do not have the ability to bring players down as some of the other clubs have the advantage of. Personally playing for naenae, our player numbers have at times struggled this year, with alot of people deciding to go on holiday during the season!! lol.

obviously this affects our second team in capital 5 as we have to pull players up from their team. look for our two english fellas, both very quality players and we also some quality form in the likes of simon hall and peter ung ( currently injured ) jason cudby ( away on hol ) and a young sudanese guy in midfield who has some great raw talent.

we'll give anyone a go on a good day :)

Could be a test for Marist this week. Playing Whafies 2nd team and there 1st team does not have a game !!!!!!!

Marist will struggle to win it I reckon. I've heard their squad is thin and might rely on second teamers being up to the job.

This weekend may see the difference between a side who can afford to drop players down versus another who has to bring them up.

exactly my point bond,

alot of teams in this grade have the advantage of being able to drop players from a higher grade whereas the few others rely on having to bring players up from lower grades :/

although I still think Marist will be much too strong for Wharfies.

havin spent time at Marist, i know they rely heavily on players to come up from the 2nd team "do a job" when others are injured or suspended. an example of this is a guy they have playing at right back....by the name of Chris Huszka. Now when i was at Marist, he was a bit-part player as a striker who didnt get a look in thanks to myself, Duncan Edwards and Greg Parish being up front.

my point is that marist have the players in the 2nd team who can come up and do the business for them if required. They have a good core of players who probably carry them each week (Victor, Greg, Luca) and it'll be good to see them back in Capital Premier next season.

Go on the Mighty Marist! Bring back Neil McDonald!

Hey Barber, Neil is already pushing for his comeback, he was on the bench for the firsts last week after a few games for the seconds

Marist and Miramar top 2.
Miramar will drop players if needed and Marist have a quality striker and an asian chap who takes throw ins and they go about 1.6Km

Yeah man, that asian dudes throws, flipping heck, is his back springloaded or something? Half expected him to go and throw one and half his back seize out on him!! Not only do they go far, they're also bloody quick too, its a huge weapon for marist!

marist should win promotion, followed by miramar!
shame to see wainui struggling year after year, so many wainui players are now plying their trade at other clubs and doing well! they would be near the top in premier if they all returned!!
naenae are poor, they only compete because they spend money on a few english strikers, and still dont win promotion. the money they do have would be better off spending on 5-6 local players!! and a new coach, he is an embarrassment the way he carries on the sideline!! that small english fella!!that peter ung should go elsewhere he is too good for them!!

Although Marist is 2nd on the table in capital 1, they have a game in hand over Miramar 2nds.  Marist deserves to win the league, they should not have been relegated last season. It was good they didnt play Karori at Karori park on Saturday, the weather would off made it a sloppy game. Looking at the defensive record Marist has, they are far better than any team in the league. They have a good team spirit which drives them along.

Hey barber you played for Marist? I think I  know you. I just wanted to say Miramar has lost twice against Marist this season.  Defense is just as important as attack, Marist has good attack and defense. Palmy boy (Greg)  up front puts them away.

I believe Marist deserves the title for sure... to remain unbeaten in the league at this stage of the season, it definitely deserves some respect.  It's a completely different team from last year, so you can't look at past records/relegations.  Yep, the team last year was beaten fair and square in the playoffs by LH, but this year in Chatham Cup, Marist beat LH's Central League team fair and square too (sorry Barber, know it's a sore point ).  With their achievements so far, they definitely deserve a return the Premier grade...

To beat a team 2 grades above them is pretty good, especially in the Chathum cup. Lower Hutt is a strong club Marist are difinitely treated as the underdogs.

Miramar reserves only get players coming back from injury or out of the 16 First team squad for that week.

Marist and Miramar top 2.

Steve Jones top scorer in league- and all from the center circle.

how can you NOT look at past relegations? achievements so far? i'm sorry luv but its the achievments at the END of the season that get you back into the "top flight". Yes we all know LHCAFC got beat by Marist yadayadayada giant killers, david n' goliath n all that - but it wont mean diddly-squat if you don't do the business and get promoted.....my point is, don't let one result define your season.......thats best defined with a trophy in the cabinet......and i know coz ive won a couple in my time.

good luck

p.s Chelsea "deserved" the title as well........but look what happened there.....hahahahahahahaha

Surely they will win the league title!!!
They were very unlucky to be relegated last year and they have showed the right enthusiasm to get direct promotion.

Barber! Of course Chelsea deserved the title...   We was robbed!!!

Knew I'd get a rise outta ya by mentioning the (a-hem) unfortunate LH loss in Chatham Cup!  But you're right, can't hang your hat on one result... still, Marist will be there at the end - they'll do the business for sure!

By the looks of it a shaky win for Marist yesterday. Surprised they could only muster 1 against NW.

Still it's not as surprising as some of the other results in Cap 1! Definitely a two horse race now...

It was a fairly shaky first half from both teams (Marist and NW), but I would have to say in the second half Marist did enough for the scoreline to have been a bit more in our favour. Still should have isn't the same as did, we certainly aren't gonna chase Miramar down down for most goals scored this year.

Marist had heaps of chances in the second half against NW on Saturday, the weather was definitely a factor. Good to see Olympic lost to Uni on sat. :D Two horse race to win the league for sure.

Played for Uni against Olympic on Saturday, we came back from 2-1 down. 8 yellow cards handed out in the game 7 of them to Olympic, they sure self destructed.

So who are the favourites to win it? Marist seem to be based around a consistent and mean defence while Miramar just keeep banging em in. Be interesting as a neutral to see the results, much the same contrast as Scum vs Abromovich FC last year.
