Turtles to M4 - is that a good thing or bad thing for us in M4?

BNU Masters 1 play football all year long,

They travel away to Nelson, Dunedin & other towns at the end of the season

Play teams from Auckland & Invercargill when their in town & have a good social scene that continues once the seasons over

Just because Wharfies are a bunch of strangers that disappear once the game is finished, don't socialize once the season is over & can't get their shark together to play anyone....

Don't have a go at BNU

Must be favourites at this stage to win the league

Will be great to have a challenge to the BNU/Wharfies domination of the last few seasons

Good game of football today between BNU & Wharfies Dreamers (Wellington's most recognised social team)

Strong early start from Wharfies but they couldn't take their chances

BNU scored against the run of play with a ball played over the flat Wharfies defence for Andy Mac to lob the keeper

From there BNU took control & dominated the rest of the half scoring the 2nd about 20 mins in from a Craig Buckley long range effort that went in the top right corner

A mistake at the back for BNU allowed Chris Greenacre to run from halfway & beat the keeper in a 1 on 1- nicely finished btw

HT 2-1 to BNU

2nd half BNU scored 5 mins into the half with some nice one touch work down the left side setting up Mike Ash at the edge of the box, he turned on a sixpence & drilled it in the top corner- quality finish

Wharfies then rolled their sleeves up & came at BNU with a vengeance, numerous attacks & scrambles in the box, some great saves from BNU keeper Jeff Graham, a shot that hit the bar then the post & some solid defence from the BNU back 4 kept Wharfies at bay

In the last 10 mins Wharfies ran out of steam & BNU could have extended their lead with a number of counter attacks

FT 3-1 to BNU

On reflection BNU took their chances & that was the difference between the two, this game probably came a bit early for both teams but BNU where more prepared than Wharfies (Probably due to BNU's pre season programme)

I'm looking forward to the next encounter I'm sure Wharfies will be too

Thanks to the 2 Wharfies players & 1 supporter that turned up at the BNU Masters sponsor Bebemos for after match drinks

Was a good game..... Think those two teams will be hard to beat again. Although a few new faces in the Olympic team too

school holidays. 8 regulars away. There is a real case for masters footy to have a rest over this period

if you are still at school you probably shouldn't be playing masters football

As much as I dislike playing the Greeks, I'm surprised they aren't in the grade. Won't be the same

A Fielding United registered player....really are they that silly. No doubt Capital Footy will have their say.

Be a very sad state of affairs to penalise a team for playing Musgrove. His first touch is penalty enough!!

Are they (we) silly enough to put him on the card!

Bizarro version of M1 this year...what is up with these results? Looking forward to playing the BNU lads next Saturday :)

Return to normal service?

Yep, to be expected I suppose, we haven't beaten you guys in about 6 years of trying! Thought it was a good game, you dominated the first half and comfortably deserved to be 2-0 up, second goal was a bullet! We gave you a better run in the second though and were a bit gutted we couldn't get on the score sheet. Still, relatively happy to keep you to 2 goals, normally in the past it's been around 6

Where were you?

Running around Mount Taranaki. The squad has been a bit light this year but when we have all been there it's been pretty bad. No excuses tho, most teams seem to have strengthened and the whole league is more competitive. Good times!

Wharf overcame a strong Tawa side 4-2. If Tawa had taken their chances it might have been different. Surprise to see BNU and NW sharing the points.

Bump.
First masters season for me and ended up in M1.
Anyone want to give me some tips? I hear Karori are really good. What are the other teams like and is there a huge difference between the top 3 and lower teams?
Also looking forward to kicking Greenie's shins after a couple of seasons off ?

Tips......stay away from angry old men.

Think our Brooklyn team is a little light on numbers so assume that Wharf are the team to beat again.
