Guys of Masters 1, thought I would start up a new thread ready for another competitive season.. Feel free to add comments on games, incidents, pitches, players etc...

Looking forward to the game on Newtown against Dreamers with a great lunchtime kick off to alleviate traffic and parking problems in Newtown.

If you don't know, the mighty Greeks have moved into the old Berhampore Golf Club.. So looking forward to a few sessions down there. All welcome.

Good luck for the season guys and look forward to ya comments and match reports....

Should be an extra competitive season with the addition of the Wharfies side, BNU were the team to beat last year with the McDonald brothers (amongst others in the side) bringing a nice brand of football, I would expect BNU, Olympic, Wgtn United and Wharfies to be duking it out at the end of the season for bragging rights, Seatoun also is an unknown quantity. One of the good things about masters 1 is you can often bank on a few upsets! We (Marist Cavs) are looking forward to playing wharfies at Karori this sat, have not played up there for a number of years, hopefully the season starts on time! Good luck to all

Looks like the powers that be at Capital Football have relegated us from the plush turf of Newtown to Te Whaea for the clash against you guys Blocker.

I`m sure it won`t be a repeat of last years match at Macallister!

So did Mr Greenacre play and if so did he score? There were rumours of a Seatoun default? We found Greenie M hard enough to deal with when playing wharfies in game 1, let alone Greenie C...may have dodged a bullet there, at least till round 2.

Hard fought 1-1 draw with Nth Wgtn today for the Cavs, a minor relief after the pantsings we received in the first two games. Our oldest player scored the equaliser with five to go and also put in a man of the match performance...nice one Roons :). Crawford Green really is a shocker, good thing we aren't playing there next w...oh wait.

We had a 1-1 draw with Brooklyn.. good game.. draw was probably a fair result. They scored with 15 to go, stunning goal, cut in from right and smashed into bottom corner, and we equalised a couple of mins with a penalty. Thats 3 tough games out of the way.. dissapointed we only got 1 point!

Out of the 3 teams we played, Wgtrn Dreamers have better finishers, Karori have a better midfield, and Brooklyn just need another striker!... looking forward to the rematch!

Looking forward to this weekend!

Brooklyn know my demands (no rain) so they know what they have to do.

Fairly certain that me not being there really didn't make any actual difference.

We (Wgtn United Dreamers) had a tough battle over Tawa. They are a decent side and will have some influence on this league. They went 1-0 against us, after we had dominated early without taking our chances. We equalised shortly after there goal. Scored early in the second half and held on for the 3 points.

Looking forward to North Welly on Saturday, will then have to prepare for the big boys (Wharf and Brooklyn) Can see it being a very tough season with many sides capable of taking points off each other.

Tawa away for the Wharf tomoz. Ole turf - beats Crawford, Melrose, Raroa or the Valley. No bar to have a post game drink at though..

No watching the first team (lose).

3-1 win. Good goal for them by withers though. The other Greenie got a decent header. Many a hamstring was blown

BNU beat Seatoun 2-0.  No known hamstrings were blown, but my Achilles fell off with about 15 to go.

Saw a bit of the Wharf beating Wellington United 2-0, and then watched BNU come from 2-0 down at halftime to beat Tawa 5-2. Celebration of the day went to the geezer who scored the 2nd goal for Tawa and celebrated like it was a last minute winner in an FA cup final

I was watching the Bubbles United game on Wakefield 2 at the same time and saw that, he sprinted fifty yards back towards their sideline screaming at the top of his lungs, was absolutely hilarious.

From a neutral perspective, a great game last night between Wharf and Brooklyn. Pretty good standard. Did Brooklyn just sign all the angry players in Wellington?

I thought that the game was played in very good spirits last night - plently of challenges flying in from both sides, but nothing malicious and after every foul everyone just got up and got on with the game.  Even Greenie avoided the red mist.  Game was played at a hell of a pace, and I am sure that there are some pretty sore bodies on both teams this morning.

Quite a burglary job done by the cavs on wharfies today, wharfies with vastly more possession and chances yet we somehow escaped with a 3 2 win, very enjoyable tough game. Wharfies guys a pleasure to play against, recent results are tightening up the league a wee bit, be interesting to see how it plays out over 3 rounds.

ps was neat playing against Chris Greenacre, great player (obviously) and also very fair and competitive, really played as part of the dreamers team instead of trying to do it all himself. Awesome first touch and scored a nice half volley from outside the box, was also very complementary of our keeper who made some good saves, cheers.

Really enjoyed the good football on Saturday over at Karori! Also enjoyed playing back on grass again!

5-1 didn't really reflect the game, although the game was marred by some dubious ref decisions.. The handball in the box in the first half.. 99/100 would have given it, the first disallowed goal for offside was 50/50 and could accept it, the second disallowed goal was a good goal, and was never offside. that would have made it 2-2 and would have brought us back in it.. but you have the learn to deal with ref's.. all 3 crucial decisions never went our way.

Sorry if we left your clubrooms in a bit of a state! We had a great night there, shame not many other of your teams (Karori have about 20 senior teams!) came back.. you have a great setup..! Look forward to round 3..

BNU beat the bubbles 5-1 yesterday,  Was 4-0 at half time after BNU took all their chances in the first half.  Second half a lot more even after bubbles raised their game/BNU dropped their intensity
