Wharf beat Tawa by a lot. Hat tricks to Feverish and Brodie. The other Greenie also scored. Piney and Woody netted for Tawa.Nice to see Jesse Phillips back in NZ and back in action.

BNU def. Wgtn Utd 2-1 at Wakefield.
BNU deserved winners and probably should have won by a lot more having the majority of possesion, but Diamonds battled, hassled and generally thwarted BNU to score late from a corner (Roxy rising at the far post) to give BNU a squeaky bum for the last five mins.

nah, retired (again).  Scan and X-ray yesterday, official decision on if I'll ever walk again this afternoon.

Still thinking of kitting up, coming on, and attacking Feverish with an axe in the 90th minute.

Cavs 2 Tawa 1, tough and enjoyable game at wellington college turf, Grizzlies went up 1-0 with a top swerving shot from distance after Cavs defense jockey jockeyed for too long, Cavs equalised with a bundled goal, then scored the winner with a nice finish to Dan our striker in the 2nd, Tawa had their chances, Richard in the Tawa goal made a series of good saves to keep us out, Tawa had long spells of possession, and their centre mid pulled the strings, but we created a fair number of chances on the counter. Played in good spirits. Now onto Wgtn dreamers, who thumped us 9-1 in the first round... could  be another goalerama

Currently 1-1 between Wharfies and BNU. Thommo scored first for BNU then some dick equalised for the Wharf.  Same dick later tried a  Ronaldo style 40 yard free kick, with a hilarious outcome

Finished 2-1 to BNU, with Woodsy scoring the winning goal. Wharf dominated most of the 2nd half but could not score the equaliser

Didn't really enjoy that one. Bnu yelling offside every time their two fullbacks tripped over each other, mushrove trying to knock jesses head off several times and constantly talking crap, and frankie mac on the sideline just being his annoying self in a stupid hat

Serious question...how good would Masters 1 standard be? Greenie you played Cap Prem a few years ago (last?) Does it compare?

I get the impression both sides have lost good players through injury as the season has worn on so this one wsn't as good as the opener was (based on reports).

Typically angry and shouty masters game.  Surprising how many are.

Nah, it's got more to do with 40-year-olds being much more aware of how pathetic and empty and worthless their lives are than 20-year-olds, hence all the rage.

Wgtn Dreamers 5 Cavs 4

Cavs 2-1 up at half time, 4-2 down with 10 to go, 4-4 with 2 mins left and 5-4 down in the last minute, talk about a rollercoaster! Really good tough game, and we were happy to have been a lot more competitive than in the 9-1 shellacking we received in the first round, but gutted we could not take points off the Dreamers for the first time ever. Some nice goals by both sides. Re angry masters, yep there are a fair few angry games, but also a fair few played in good spirits, depends on the teams involved. Played in plenty of angry games in other non-masters divisions over the years , so rage monsters are not exclusive to Masters , never had an all in kung fu style brawl in masters with 15 odd spectators involved as well, despicable but awesome at the same time :)

So insightful – you must be a real genius…

Not sure what all the fuss is about when everyone keeps referring to how angry players are. It’s a competitive
game and if you asked each individual player out there if they wanted to win
that game you would get the same answer. If you want to view a bunch of guys
showing love towards each other, I’d suggest Feverish flat on a Sunday morning…
Harden up or play golf

Fark orf. I'm 43 and I know enough Masters players to know their lives are very pathetic, very empty and very worthless. I'm not criticising the rage, just explaining it. Let's face it, if the football pitch is the only place a middle-aged man lets out the pent-up anger and frustration that comes with the realisation that the best years of his life are over and he's achieved fuck all, and his kids hate him (or he's never going to have kids) and his job's a soul-destroying life-suck, then that's probably a good thing. Better to kick lumps out of some similarly angry old man in a game of footy than lose it some other time and place and do damage to some innocent by-stander. It's kind of like this forum actually - a "walled garden" where it's safe for a bunch of idiots to talk shit and have stupid arguments with each other at a safe distance from the rest of society where such behaviour wouldn't normally be tolerated.

By the way, spelling genius wrong is a work of, well... genius.

Wharf beat Marist 4-2. Well known player got red card for giving ref a piece of paper listing the local address of Specsavers. Olympic beat Diamonds 5-1. Blocker got stuck in a mud heap and was rescued by a 4x4. BNU beat Jville 2-0. Game rduced to eight men a side due to all others having hypothermia. Tawa beat Seatoun 4-1. Piney tried to review the Seatoun goal but was told that no TV cameras were present.
