Yep no doubt Feverish, we seem to do all right though at Federation
level and there are still more Auckland teams in main draw than
Wellie ones.
Gotta agree with you Alexf - Wellington always do well at Fed level
cos the best are all in one team whereas national U19s the best
players are spread over many teams and once you get suspensions,
injuries the depth is not there to cover the experienced players
(but thats not an excuse as all other teams in the nationals have
the same issues, it was more an explanation.
In terms of Wellington United, saw them play against Wests and they
wanted to win the game more, also thought they played more
intelligently with the wind and when they got a goal up, got most
of their players behind the ball - like the Poms in rugby, you do
what you have to do to win the game and they did - might not have
been pretty but they won fair and square.
In regards to the other Welly teams, I thought Olympic ALWAYS punch
above their weight, there is always something about this team that
regardless they come to play for every game (good on the greeks). I
expected a bit more out of Lower Hutt.....Petone as expected played
their tournament at Upper Hutt, also thought Miramar would have
progressed further and Wests could not replace the experience of
Sam Peters (injury) and Cory Chettleburg
(carded).
Still there is always the NZFC Youth teams to watch out for, for
the up and coming youngsters....of tomorrow!chareimos2007-10-28
