Hard to go past western springs in the main draw.

Onehunga sports in the satelite.

And both Springs and Sports lose their opening games. Seems we can go past them then ?

and then both win the whole thing

Western Springs 2-1 Birkenhead Utd

The final was a game worthy of a great tournament and Springs first goal worthy of any final-A mazy 40 yard dribble and cool finish off the post.

Plus I got to pretend a Marist club won it thanks to Springs emerald and ivory hoops!

We aren't in Guthrie Bowron mate. It's green and white.

Three for me, and two for them.

Winner either way - Birko goes to the Marist tournament.

Congratulations to the NZU20 squad Western springs for just Squeeking past Birko 2-1 in the final. Hard to take these results seriously when it's just a national selector feathering their own nest.  Might work for 1 off tournaments but didn't work in the league for springs.

Speaking to someone from the Club while I was down there, apparently (acording to the person I spoke to) their youth development is a complete shambles and almost non-existent. Something like half a dozen players left them to join Napier Marist, who did fairly well in the satellite tournament

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

I am biased (as previously stated) but Napier Marist were a joy to watch. Unfortunately i couldn't muster myself for an 8am KO for the semi vs Melville though, whcih they lost 2-0

I didn't know how far they'd gone. Just knew they sailed through the group stage

They were the only team (Main Draw or Satellite) who got maximum points in pool play* - dominated their quarter against Albany United but then fell to melville in Semi. But the way they played was fantastic- positive, creative and a good mix of reliance on individual skill and teamwork-obv. well coach by Marty Akers.

some of these guys are players to watch for the future

* i think - 15 points from 15

I have just sent out the invitations to the 2017 Lotto U19 Tournament

Please check with your club to see if they have received their invitation - if you think they should be involved!  If they haven't received an email from me, they can contact me at
finance@cityrovers.co.nz

What has surprised me is, on cruising around many and varied Club websites, is the number of sites that either have no contact information, or the information that is there is out of date.  I have had plenty of emails bounce on me over the last few days.  That also includes the information on some of the Federation websites.

However, all is now done, so we wait for the entries to come in.

Fiji

they could be hoping for a realistic improvement in results then.

We can't afford Fiji.  Will probably play in the Satellite group - a lot closer to home and don't have to pay an entry fee!

No draw yet, only groups

http://www.cityrovers.co.nz/club-news/main-groups-...

Does anyone know when the satellite tournament  draw is being done?

Funnily enough, I can answer that.

The Satellite draw has only just been finalised owing to withdrawls and late entries.

Both draws will be sent out tomorrow arvo.

Close run thing between a few Wellington teams there for a while.

I was up watching Upper Hutt who should be bloody proud of their efforts.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.
