Good to see that I haven't lost my touch in getting people wound up - I thought I was being polite - I didn't write what I was really thinking.
The Tournament is still on, although without the Auckland teams, in a slightly altered format.  All teams have been offered the opportunity to withdraw and those who have withdrawn have been guaranteed their place in next years' tournament and money refunded without penalty.  We now await what is happening in the Waikato as this may affect their entries.   The draw will be sent out next week when hopefully the picture becomes clearer.
Chris McIvor has worked closely with the Events Manager from Napier City Council and they believe that we can put on a safe and worthwhile tournament.  We have also borrowed some of the methods Hawkes Bay Rugby use to run their home matches.
All in all, it will not be the traditional Napier tournament but it will be a tournament that hopefully the players and Clubs will enjoy participating in.
This is good news, I now a kid who is very excited to go. Thanks for making it happen under all the circumstances. Much appreciated.

Great news that the tournament is going ahead.

Hopefully NCR have not put profit ahead of the health and safety of the players, coaches, supporters, and the wider Hawkes Bay community.

Have a look on their website at their covid plan - I think it's pretty conclusive and shows that they are taking H&S seriously.

Gee Northland must be keen , did they fly from Whangarei to Napier?

Nope looks like they got an exemption to travel through Auckland!

Regardless of how seriously they are taking it ... there are 70(?) teams involved in the tournament ... seems reckless at best to be running a tournament right now.

Probably more like 30 teams!

It says 70 on the website (Napier City Rovers - Draws and Results)
Guess time will tell whether this is a super-spreader or not.
And its not about fear; its more about protecting the vulnerable.
But hey - I guess footy may be more important to some and worth the risk.

38 (30 men, 8 women) if you count the teams in the standings, which means 18 men, 12 women sides at home watching tiktoks

I hear what your saying - but have you read the plan?  What other safety measures would you include?  Or are you just saying it shouldn't be able to go ahead?

I really hope this wasn't started at the Napier tourney -
Covid-19 has been detected in wastewater samples from Napier and Gisborne.
Results were released on Friday afternoon after sampling was carried out by the Institute of Environmental Science and Research (ESR) between
November 1 and 3.

give it a rest pal.

Without knowing all the teams, Pool C looks like the tough one? Which Auckland teams will be strong?

Why does Pool C look tough?

I.e, what are you basing that on?
Historical?  Last year?  Know the teams?

Can’t always go by historical in age group tournaments. Take WCR group A for example, ¼ finalist last year, losing to eventual tournament winners. Seeded this year,  pre tournament loss to NS by a big number.
Can’t go by how their club did throughout winter season either; teams have guest players, some U19s were in their NL Prem squad, some were playing U23, or other local league level. Some gave lost good players to national league sides for underage quota.

Any news on games being streamed at the tournament?

Also any early predictions on teams to watch? Been told some of the seeded teams aren't too flash (Hamilton, WCR)

The tournament web page does not mention anything, but the club facebook page does.  It is in the form of two posts (as opposed to a comment offering a stream) and has a cost ...

What's in the Birko water? What has he put in place there that has seen such success at this level. How many players from there kick on?

Think Corban Piper in the Nix is from Birko? I watched them beat Petone in the semi. That was a great game. Good tournament all round.
