Well mate lets be honest.

Why would Olympic bother making up a program that no one reads. Some guy spends his whole weekend preparing a crappy program that you and your dog reads? Wheres the sense in that?

This is not the La Liga its the local league in Welly, who cares!

Everyone loves to hate the greeks, if thats the only thing you can moan about then you have a serious problem.

I suppose you spent the whole game worrying about why you didnt have a one page handout....

Go moan somewhere else

To be honest one of the great things about going to olympic games was that you got a full colour programme with player images and a bit of a read.

Maybe those involved in producing it have other things using their time though...

I like having a programme just for the very fact I can remember who the players are.  It's not diffcult, Wests' is usually pretty budget but it helps.

This is not an Olympic bash, fair questions...

And Olympic takes the time to prepare a quality website, it wouldn't be difficult to spend a little of that time on a programme.

I beleive they had one of there programs this year so up to it had the Saturday game results in it.
That is dedication.  As it has been said it gives the Fans something to reference the players from and will build club goodwill.

Is it not one of the rules of the Central League that the home club have a programme?

We all know that Olympic have no Juniors, they dont offer them enough money  hence the reason they have no ball boys.

Educated guess: John Serepisos used to do the fylers but as he is busy with being the Phoenix Marketing Manager / or somthing like that / he has no time to do them.

Ill see what i can do. I do agree they add a little bit more to the game.

As I understand it This was the first time that a programme was not available, and for a good reason. It gets printed as late as possible so the Sat results are also included.... unfortunately the printer had other ideas and was not very "cooperative" ....!!!! New hardware will be in place for the next home game....

anything else you want to add? a couple of mistakes in the last couple of weeks by Olympic and it seems like the world is coming to an end. jesus it's about the football, yet some people are adamant that the focus be on a few hiccups.

if you turn up to a football match to see the ballboys then maybe you should get your head checked. kiddy fiddlers aren't welcome at football matches.

yeah, just shows that for their success on the field over the years. Olympic really can't be classed as a top club in wellington! a club should have a home ground and clubrooms of their own!!, a match programme i guess is the least of their worries.
maybe the greeks should invest their money in these, instead of buying players, pretty embarrasing really!!

Olympic has a home ground its called Newtown Park. They also have clubrooms on Adelaide road. There haven't been match programmes only during the last couple of weeks - every other week spectators get excellent programmes.

adelaide road!!!! aint that 10kms away from olympics "home" ground, olympic are the only club i know that share a home ground with another club of the same code!!! maybe they could acquire a home ground and build some clubrooms??? there are a few good options, happy valley, melrose (great second storey veiw) or the piece of land on the motorway to the hutt, its going cheap (1.6m) and you prob get a free lawn mower (billy the goat) who can be painted to the colour of your choice

I think its great that amatuer and semi professional football clubs make an effort to make programs.

I think picking up on little idiosyncrasies is stupid. Just be greatful that small clubs are making a better effort.

Extracts from Central League Regs

2. All Clubs must produce and make available at home matches a

reasonable number of Match Day Programmes of at least 1 x A4

page (including the cover), containing the current team lists . A

copy of each programme must be mailed to The Manager and local

administrator within 5 days following the Clubs fixture. Failure of a

Club to comply with any part of this Regulation will result in a fine of

$250. (Womens League exemption compliance with this

Regulation is encouraged but will not be enforced.)

The home Club shall provide not less than four (4) identically dressed

ball persons who must wear uniforms that do not clash with the

competing teams and match officials colours. These ball persons

must be at least ten (10) years old on the day of the match. Failure to

comply with this requirement, as notified by the Referee to The

Manager, may result in a fine of $50. The Manager may make an

allowance for neutral venues.

There is no max age for ball persons. Been there done that.

Oh k listen.

Olympic after what 4 years in the CL missed one Programme deadline and Did not have ballboys. SO by the rules we should be and WERE fined, but i ask where was Stop outs fine when they failed to have a proper match ball and ballboys against Olympic.

And as for Sweepa...Are you telling me Olympic shouldnt be considered a top opponent because our clubrooms are down the road and because we share a ground???? Mistake me if im wrong but football is played on the pitch, and thats where judgements shall be made.

Dont try and come on here and give us sh*t and think you know Olypic. Im ctually getting tired of having to explain myself and Olympic because in realit it is jelousy that fuels your rage and miss-concern and for that reason i leave you with this...

Olympic is Football. We might not win everymatch but make up with it...Spirit, Drive, and Community. Dont try and say otherwise.

Need some flair to their game so maby they shld watch olympic. Ball boys who gves a sht central league at professionals go get the fkn ball.

Hi "sweepa"
Obviously you have some issues with Olympic, I wonder why...have they turned you down at some stage for one of their teams...???? Now let's get some facts straight. No Wellington Club owns their grounds, they are leased from the City Council, as for clubrooms at least we own ours.
As for the "advise" regarding the piece of land on the motorway we thought that it would be better utilised by you "sweepa" so you can go and play with billy the goat..watch out for those horns ....

ok, apart from the poor grammar this makes some interesting reading Pavlos8.

Although the U20s lost, not to many people would have believed that we would only lose 2-0. Furthermore, by all accounts the team didn't play that bad and had some chances towards the end. Do you believe a few more stepovers and flicks may have won us the game?

Secondly, I have nothing against Olympic but does it really matter who plays the best football with the most "flair" ?? at the end of the day its the points on the table that matter. If you play good football the results will come so that puts paid to your argument rather quickly. Take a look at Man United teams of yesteryear.......Steve Bruce, Paul Ince, Gary Pallister, Lee Sharpe - now forgive me for not seeing much flair in there? The Man United of today has Ronaldo and Giggs, who posess oodles of flair, but let me tell you something......Sir Alex would just as gladly take a 1yd toe-poke from Heinze as a 30 yard jinking run with 7 stepovers followed by a chip over the GK by Ronaldo - its the same result isnt it?

Thats my bit.

Translation please. Excuse the pun but "its all greek to me".
Football is played under certain rules that are set down and enforced by the league in which it is played. Sometimes misdemenours get missed. Just like fouls on a pitch. Live with it.
Granted, Olympic play with some flair but seem to miss the big results. When did they last win a league. Anyone would agree that Cristiano Ronaldo is a far better player now that he has "deflaired" a bit and plays intelligently football. Solid football wins matches.

Q.? do wests own ole/porirua hosp ground???  i know that clubs lease from council, but i just thought that this might be your chance to get one over all the other clubs in wellington.
Also, never said you didnt own your clubrooms just that they are a distance from your "home" ground. you certainly read a bit into these posts, some one can not take a bit of poking fun

I have tried to engage in a bit of 'banter' with the greeks on here, and been called a racist, a red-neck and been told I will be eating through a straw for the next few months.  I think that anyone who knows me personally will agree that I am most most certainly not a racsit, and in fact buy some of my fish and chips from greek people.

I do appreciate what you Olympic fans are doing supporting and sticking up for your club, but please don't take everything so seriously.

Frankie Mac I love it! yes it seems some people take "banter" as a fully fledged jihad racial attack on their club! lighten up people its only football in lil ol' NZ! Wests.....flash harrys? Are u tellin me Tim Broadhurst is a flash harry? hahaha

Sweepa, ur question about Ole. My understanding is that Ole Soccer Academy Inc has a lease somewhere in the region of 15 years from the time they took over the facility. A Maori consortium actually OWNS the building and surrounding pitch but with the money they've pumped into the place, it'd be hard to see Wests movin outta there........be funny if they got kicked out tho......not funny in a hahaha way tho.

Why do Olympic's 2nd team play at Wakefield Park and not at their  " home ground " at Newtown Park. Most 2nd teams do play Home games at Home, or is Wakefield Park Olympic's true Home Ground .
Ps  Can never get a car park at your clubrooms, hence have never gone back, must be so many more players and supporters who don't because of this.

K, Frankie appreciate yur acklowledge ments but the reason olympic supporters take everything to heart is because we support our team till we die and olymic is what runs through our veins, so when things that are said about olympic sound semi-racial or just past the point of taking the piss we react.

Its always been like that and always will be.

We do over-react at times but its only because we are so patriotic towards our club.

Hi ChopperHarris

Well....Like you said most 2nd teams not all of them.... Miramar for example often use "Miramar1" for their 2nd team. The issue with Newtown park is that only a certain number of "playing hours" are allowed by the City Council. A couple of season ago our 2nd team used to play the "curtain raiser" before our 1st team. The demands on Newtown park now with Team Wellington as well as Phoenix have made this impossible. Hope this helps to ease your "concerns"...
As for the car parks In Adelaide road I am sure that is not really a problem...by the time the games finish ....there are more than adequate parks around...as long as there is willingness and sportsmanship...!!!!!

Hi Frankie Mac

Yia I agree with some of your comments, however just to give you another prespective...you see most of us Olympic supporters we regard the Club as an "extension" of our Family, and yes more often than not we do take these things seriously. I suppose it is hard for you to understand...but there is one way that you may be able to get some sort of insight to this...come and spend some time at the Club ....I am sure then you will understand...!!!!
We may be known as the "Greeks" but our doors have and always will be open to any true football supporter/player.
