Can't match it - we all know Olympic have paid big money in the past but that has stopped. Wests, Hutt, gissy and (Miramar to a lesser degree) are the big spenders and good on them if they want to buy trophies.

And I have no problem lying straight in bed although might have to move to Wests as I could do with  a new one

Yia you are right chops, once upon a time Olympic had a big fat chq book, times have changed, and yes I can only speculate but it looks like that, what Wests or Gizy spent on one player this year will cover all the expenses for Olympic for this season.

I believe that you have now qualified for the "Greek Saver" a few more years at Olympic and they will probably make you a honorary Greeko... !!!!!!!!!!!!!

But it hasn't siopped and you chops know that... and I heard West's weren't interested in you  so you had better start saving your coin from Olympic for that bed

Sorry yourmoma I was just wondering what team do you play for?

I would suggest that the migration to Wests is more based on the quality of the set up.  Training kit provided, playing and training on the best grounds in Wellington, good coaching, there's a lot to like.  Everyone knows the deal at Miramar for win bonuses (it's the same as last year) and its nothing special.  I'm not convinced there is money being thrown around at Wellington players to change clubs.  Obviously players brought in from overseas are on something, but who are you suggesting has been bought?  And no, I have nothing to do with either club.

Normo's coming home

Exactly what I thought. It's a bit stupid that you have a dig at Chops even though he plays at a level of football you could only dream of playing at.

Well Frankie, i was mistaken then. What i should have said was Miramar are known to attract players due to their so called 'bonus's and knob shining'.

Im not denying Olympic have money that is used for player basis, im just saying they dont have as much as Other clubs as still seem to attract alot of quality.

If theyres anything that can be learnt from this thread its that, Money makes the world go round.

Olympic funded Higgins through Uni, and he aint the smartest - it took him six years to get his degree, so you must be paying out a bit of wedge.

Well it just shows you then that we do more than just play football, we "educated" him and then sent him to Stop out to do his "missionary service".....

A lot of this discussion is now focussing on loyalty and payments etc. But could you actually say, of the teams currently in Central league, how many have played more than 150 - 200 games for that club.
Back in the old days of Central League, when there were 2 or 3 divisions, movment from club to club was seldom seen. But as we now only have the one league to aspire to all players whether good enough or not will flock to those clubs in central league for a shot at playing that level.
Bring another 2 central league divisions I say.

Well done Barry on reaching the ton. It shows a decent level of club loyalty in this day and age. Mine passed me by without realising it.

Thanks Feverish. Would be nice to play the game at Newtown Park but by the looks of things we will be out at Petone Memorial due to the weather and council.

I'm sure the 200 can't be too far away for you.

Higgins - is our bet still on for the season?? I feel a dozen Heineken coming my way

No 2 ?,  Did not think this pitch was up to Cental League standard as Memorial 1 will be a mess after Petone v Island Bay

also bloody good of Olympic to give up their " home pitch " to the  Phoenix when pushing to win the Central League
