Come one, come all I say!! The venue being Harcort Park at 1pm.
Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

Ugh, what a game yesterday by the Marist girls.

Yeah ugh, Karori just wanted it WAY more... although saying that all you have to do is really shoot at the Karori goal to score. In some ways it's quite similar to me in goal, so I sympathise

Starting early this season, News?

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Opening day.

I should note, this plan may hit a roadblock if the current proposal of playing at Petone at 14:30 on Saturday and hanging around for Petone quiz night eventuates...

You didn't give MVP to Renee? What?

Annalies played well, especially considering she had the living crap kicked out of her, but if it wasn't for Renee on Sunday, the title would've been gone by now. Best player on the pitch by a country mile.

Well she got five goals one game, and I somehow managed to give her no points..

Marist grab premier women's title

Marist have been crowned Wellington women's premier club football champions after the youthful Waterside Karori team stumbled at its final hurdle.

Wharfies needed to beat Upper Hutt City to clinch the title in their first season in the top flight but were out-muscled 2-0 at Harcourt Park yesterday, handing Marist the silverware by a solitary point.

Marist ended with 28 points from nine wins, a draw and two losses, with Wharfies recording nine wins and three losses.

Marist manager Chris Tietjens and half the team were in Upper Hutt to cheer on the home side, and there was obvious delight after the final whistle.

"We're really happy with the girls, they've stuck at it and deserved this," Tietjens said. "We've got no superstars in the team, they've just come together really well. It's the nucleus of the team that's done well for a couple of years now."

Marist finished second in last year's Central League and were determined to go one better in this year's revamped Wellington premier league.

"It shouldn't have come down to the last game, to be honest, I think we were the best club out there, but we survived and we're there," Tietjens said.

"With this new Karori team that's arrived on the scene with all the superstars, it's good to knock the peg off them."

Marist have worked hard to maintain the core of their team for several years, and even have three players who drive down from Wanganui each week.

The win was another triumph for coach Brian Blellock, who also took the men's team to victory in the Capital first division. (yus! :P)

Tietjens credited defence for their success this season, conceding only nine goals in 12 matches.

Disappointed Wharfies coach Mike Greene could not fault his team. "Competing against teams like Upper Hutt and Marist, we can't complain too much.

"I think most teams would admit we play the best football, the most attractive style, but in the tight games we probably just missed a bit of mongrel because of the young players we have."

Undoubtedly Wendi is a legend. I remember getting introd to her over 20yrs ago by my rep coach (when she worked at the Mid City cinema) saying she was the next big thing and she still is!
