It's a worry the depth of Women's football, seems their are only very few strong clubs at the moment.
We hosted Miramar today, only a shadow of former years, yes the players have moved on but can the Central League continue when teams coming into it are unable to score a goal!
Premier is a huge step below Central League
Maybe it has to go back to 6 team league.
For all the positive achievements at the top level it doesn't seem to be flowing through down lower.

Here is Wharfies match report

I would just like to point out that I so called the fourth goal - in, right top corner. If anyone wants Lotto numbers for next week, let me know.

That is all.

Memo to players: LEARN THE OFFSIDE RULE!!!

Not the best pitch to play football on, but I dont think you can say Lower Hutt played the tidier football.  Thought the wide players of Upper Hutt played really well in getting behind the LHC defence and putting in a lot of crosses.  Score could / should have been more I think but for some lazy finishing in front of goal.  LHC only having the 1 shot on goal, and never really threatened to get back into the game.  Was noted though that LHC look to be a young side and just need a bit of experience on the field to help them through the game.

Also whats the story with no linesmen.  Is this not meant to be Central league.  They require us to have ball boys and rope off the pitch and then cant supply linesmen for the games.

might have been due to the Chatham Cup games on. You were prob better off without linos. Our ref missed the mist blatant penalty I have seen done by someone whose sole intention was to kick lumps out of one of our players. Then in the second half he noticed one of our players had a ring and booked her. wtf? just tell her to go off til its removed. It was the 90th minute and 7-2

Booked for wearing a ring!!! Surely the game isn't about the ref and him being seen to be "The Boss". All he had to do was say" Head across to the sideline please and take your ring of!! I suppose the player concerned was lucky she only get a yellow. He could have really asserted his authority and given a RED!!! Imagine that. He also must have had his eyes closed for the 90 minutes before hand as well.

I can. Listen...                   see I can.
Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

I was at the UH v LH game and the experience and class of the UH (and former Wellington players) made UH a much more well drilled and clinical unit. LH tried to rely on the speed of their youngster up front, with long balls forward which the back floor mopped up time and time again.

4-0 should have been at least 6 or 8, UH much classier and tidier team (the score clearly reflective of this) and a top four finish in the least I'd have thought! LH would do well to learn from these players and with time will be a great and formidable team.

With only eight teams in the league that's a bold prediction...

Top half of the table is a valid prediction for any league season, although would predict they will go higher than mid-table (hence the "at least" comment).

Was a passing comment, glad you hang on my every word

What a cracker of a game Marist V Upper Hutt. UH down 3-0 with about 20 to go. Who would have thought that any team could come back from that and draw 3 all. Some happy faces after the game, also some not very happy faces. Congrats for not giving up UH!!

The Upper Hutt team fully deserved to get a point out of the game and I think were a little unlucky not to grab all three points. After camping the whole og the 2nd half down the Marist end.

Having seen both the Warf and Marist play Upper Hutt.  I dont think it is a big game next week.  The Warf will win it easy I think.  All I saw from Marist yesterday was a long ball down the middle for the fast forwards to run onto.  The only time they looked to get it down and play was when the the one they call German (for obvious reasons) was on the ball.

As for the coach, he wasnt pleased when they were up 3-0 still yelling obscenities at his team.  Probably not the best way to get the most of them.  And not a good look from the sideline.

<snip>

When Marist got their third I thought they'd get more...  and then they just sort of stopped... Very odd. Where I differ from Spurs crazy is, I thought, that once UHC got their third.... that Marist were going to sneak a fourth.  Odd sort of a game....

Are they not flying in all of their players from Auckland (or the US) this week like they do every other? Least the local girls, or at least the ones that go to training week in week out will get some game time!

Go to training, get the games. That's the way it should be. Training attendance is part of being in a team, not just turning up for the game and saying "hi. I'm here. Do you remember me. I played for you last week".

The players being talked about have moved to Auckland because they have been given a significant 'suggestion' by NZ Football that they need to be in Auckland if they want to make national sides, yet they are still loyal to Wellington and want to play club football here.

It's not like anyone is importing players that aren't Wellingtonians who are just trying to combine what they want to do on a Sunday with what they are obliged to do by NZ Football.

That's fine for social football but at this level it's far from that.

Exactly. It really is a big ASK. These players should be applauded NOT pilloried.

On a slightly different topic, I hear that there have been issues with getting ARs (linos) for games. I've always enjoyed games I've run for some of these teams.

Applauded? Now there's an overstatement! Free trips home to see family, whilst team mates are training week in and out as a squad and then having to bench, not all is as happy within than meets the eye. End of the day you are only as strong as your weakest link!

All I will say is that its a joke to expect clubs to supply ball boys and rope of the ground when They disrespect the league by sending out a ref (and im using the term ref very lightly) that has no idea of the game and what he should be doing.  He booked the wrong player in the 1st half and then proceeded to book anyone that appealed for a decision.  One player was booked for cheering a goal scored. Another was booked for the use of her elbows when the closest marker was probably 5 meters away.  And if your interested the clown in the middle was Richter.

As for the game I thought PNGHS have some promising players in there side.  Very impressed with the centre back with the bright yellow boots.  The game was played in good spirits with neither side doing anything to warrent a card throughout the game I thought.

Havent you been around the game long enough to know that most refs you get will rate about a 5 out of 10 at best? At least it didnt cost you the game
