Are the fixtures listed on the WgtnUtd website correct?

http://www.wellingtonunited.org.nz/ -> WUAFC Women's Football -> 2011 Fixtures

Esp. given that it includes BNU...?

Upper Hutt seem to have gone to the dogs this season.

Huge win for Wharf over the Marist.

I know Upper Hutt lost a lot of players this season.  Looks like they've got quite a bit of rebuilding ahead of them.  Traditionally a very gutsy team - let's hope they can get some positive results soon.

Interesting result with Brooklyn taking down Lower Hutt - perhaps Lower Hutt took them a little lightly after beating them in the promotion/relegation matches last season?

All in all - good to see a bit of a mix.

UHC are just momentarily inconvenienced. Normal service will resume...  sorry what was that *****?
Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

Any team that looses 9 players with over 1000 senior games between them will have to re build again.
All I can say is keep with it UH. You will re build.

UH had a much deserved win. Down 2-0 at half time to come back and win 4-3 was quite a remarkable achievement in my book. And as for R Jefferies goals- has been a lomg time since I last was at a club game and observed such class. Long may it continue.

Good comeback. I think the difference between UH and LH for example is that UH will fight til the end. Jeffries sounds like a good player

points shared at top o the table clash. Wharf should have come away at the half with more than 1-0 lead. Second half Massey threw everything into it and went ahead with a couple of long range strikes. Wharf equalised and again could have finished more but tough work on a heavy ground. Game of two halves where any result was possible in the end.

I watched the UH vs BNU game. Was good to watch, both goals from Upper Hutt were nice shots. The second goal from BNU was a great little through ball, with a good finish.

Think draw was a good reflection of the game.
I'm an optimistic pessimist.
I'm positive things will go wrong.

Lower Hutt scored in about the 5th minute. I left soon after, seemed like it was gonna create a few goals. Both teams had good attackers and average defenders.

Wharfies lead the way in Knockout Cup Wellingtons Waterside Karori were the biggest winners in the first round proper of the ASB Womens Knockout Cup, hammering 14 unanswered goals past Valeron Wanderers in Palmerston North on Sunday, in a weekend of few upsets.

May 29, 2011

AUCKLAND Wellingtons Waterside Karori were the biggest winners in the first round proper of the ASB Womens Knockout Cup, hammering 14 unanswered goals past Valeron Wanderers in Palmerston North on Sunday, in a weekend of few upsets.

Emma Rolston with four goals and Renee Leota with a hat trick accounted for half the damage while Briar Palmer and Amanda Rasch each netted doubles in the lopsided win, while Massey return from the capital with a 10-0 victory over Broklyn Northern United.

There were also big in the Northern Region as Jamie Hacketts five-goal haul powered Glenfireld Rovers to a 8-0 away win over Hibiscus Coast and Chelsea

Elliott claimed a hat trick in Papamoas 7-0 thumping of Tauranga City United.
Melanie Gooch and Tania Oldfield also scored hat tricks in Eastern Suburbs 6-0 romp at Waiuku and Western Springs 5-0 win over Ellerslie respectively.

Matches were tighter in the South where a lone Shontelle Smith goal edged Dunedin Tech past Northern and Queenstown lost a seven-goal thriller to Roslyn Wakari despite Mary Frasers three goals.

Halswell, semi finalists last year exited far easier than expected, losing 0-4 at home to Western.

The second round of the ASB Womens Knockout will be played on July 24, with the draw performed later this week.

From John Dow:

Hello Jason,

Mariska is an excellent player and Coach who is in demand already.

Wellington United is very keen to see her contribute to the overall development of Football throughout Wellington. Already she has taken on the Head Coachs role for Tawa Intermediates girls team in preparation for their big Tournament on June 28. Some committed parents have asked to schedule special training sessions with their boys which are currently being set up. Wellington College have a good team of 12/13 year olds keen to have some European Coaching. WU are setting up Coaching Clinics in the July school holidays which players from any club can participate in. Capital Football have been given the opportunity to have Mariska coach and/or assist with their Womens World Cup promotion throughout the region, however they are currently looking to enforce a policy that stops any person with a club affiliation from undertaking work with them. Presumably this means many of their current staff and contractors will now have their work relationship reviewed. Mariskas visit is the beginning of a Netherlands/Wellington Football relationship which includes the possibility of a talented Wellington footballer going to the Netherlands on a scholarship, WU have determined that any player in the Wellington region is eligible for this scholarship and Mariska will be talent scouting for someone to be selected for this opportunity throughout her visit.

Good initiative, TopLeft07, particularly for the women's game.

Pleasing to see ideas of this nature, ones with a bit of vision and foresight which challenge the status quo, being implemented - well done to those involved.

Compared to 12-2 in the earlier clash.

I also note it was 0-0 at half-time at Karori Park ... second half substitution? Sending off? A drop of brandy in the half-time Powerade? A few home truths expressed during the interval?

Cheers,
