Porirua City top the league after an exciting but close encounter with Wellington United. Two well matched sides where the result could have gone either way or been a draw. Porirua won mainly because of better finishing.

North Wellington are also on max so far but the Lower Hutt Yo Yos (a tip for top honours) are yet to get off the mark.

Thanks Salmon. Yes there were lots of saturday boys watching our Porirua versus Well U game. So I think there is wider interest in the Womens league. The boys commented that they were pleasantly surprised at the level of comittment and skill on show....some assumptions challenged I think!

There was an attmepted overhead in Womens Div 1 on Saturday - several milion % points better than a similiar attempt i had at the same maneoveur a few years ago! Women's football is definitely worth a look - and it's all about spreading the good word innit??

Top of the table clash between North Wellington and Porirua City settled 1-0 with a long range speculator...bit against the run of general play as I thought Porirua were the more skillful side....but thats football! Seatoun also share the top place with North Wellington as the table suggests three teams in it for the title at present.

Well Utd cannot be written off either.

This weeks Porirua are at home to island Bay at Adventure, and I predict a return to scoring ways for the City side.

Porirua fell to a surprise defeat at home 4-2 to island Bay. Forward line just didnt get going today and the young team were beaten by a more physical (but fair) side. Two wonder goals in the first half, one for each side merited a bigger crowd!

Can someone please point me in the direction of the top 2 or 3 womens teams in Wellington. I have a gun player who wants to run around with some quality players

Watched the Karori vs Brooklyn Div 1 match on Sunday @ Brooklyn....0-0 draw and the match was every bit as dour as the scoreline suggested (as both teams attested to).

Karori dominated the first half, Brooklyn were on top in the 2nd and they were only stopped from taking all 3 points by the crossbar and some good saves by the Karori keeper.

Hey Dave, I appreciate that mate, yea she made a few of the boys look silly last night,I think she'll carve up, I was thinking of getting her down at our training. But she is very keen to play so I'll pass that info on, see you next week.

Div 3 news:
Exciting round this week with the Goldens win away at Seatoun obviously the pick of the round. North Wellington also won well away as did Porirua City at University.

An out of sorts Uni team posed little difficulty for the Blue Army at Anderson. Gaby Peach's goal was indeed a "peach" of a goal hit with power from distance.

The battle is shaping up now with next weeks game at Adventure Park between Porirua City and Seatoun a key match up.

Good to see KCU getting a closer game to encourage the players after some heavy defeats. Keep going girls!

Porirua City fall to sixth place after a defeat away to Wellington Utd Goldens. The Goldens just wanted the ball more....so got it more!

Porirua promotion hopes take a dive...but still in touch with second place in a tight top half of the table.

I watched the Karori womens second division play top of the table Wellington United Clash today.
Was an awesome game, with Karori pushing the Clash right to the end.

I have watched a couple of the suburbs games and i can honstly say the level of skills from all the teams involved is shocking.

Most of the teams do toe pokes, no running, or if thats what they call running i'm a monkeys uncle.

I am not trying to compare div 2 with the top divs, that has a big gap, as does the mens league, i am just looking at basic skills, and they are lacking greatly.

Have you ever thought that maybe most just play because they want to have fun, rather than be full on competitive? Maybe some are in their first year?

Or are you one of these athletes that excel at everything and expect others to as well.

Try doing something for its fun aspect, then you might just realise that life is much more enjoyable rather than being perfect every single time.

Shrek is right give the womens teams a break.

There is lots of skill and a lot less of the whinging and moaning going on that I suffer from some Saturday mens teams (who also do toe pokes, fail to run....etc).

I was just wondering if playing for fun, involves having a coach for a team, and perhaps training during the week.

Fun is turning up on a Saturday or Sunday, having not trained during the week.

This goes for both women and the mens leagues.

sh*t you must have a pretty sad trainings then - what do you do ? shuttles? 30km runs?
you can have fun at trainings by just getting mates or team together where you can improve or just simply get out for some exercise from mid week madness. maybe you should change your perception on training?

Just out of curiosity why do you participate in sport?

It is obviously not for enjoyment.

Now hold on a minute their me womens rights brigade.

Let's look at the WHOLE thread in perspective.

It started with a few comments around Womens Div 1 being skillfull and passionate, and there was also a comment on a second division game being awesome.

I then post my tuppence worth about watching some second div games, and disagreeing with the comments, by saying the skill level and running ability was lacking.

Some posters then think that perhaps they are out their just enjoying a kick about.

The point i then make that seems lost in translation, and only half picked up is, if they are just having a kickabout per say, why oh why do you require a COACH and MIDWEEK training, i also stated that fun is just turning up without having to train.

A good point is raised that you can train and have fun, and also just enjoy a kickabout. I do agree that you can train and have fun, have a good old laugh, with the gang.

My pyhsical attributes, and character was brought to the front. I am anything but an athalete, and i am not a perfectionist. I am not even a womens soccer send them back to do the dishes person either. In fact i work with a woman, that plays for Team Wellington, and can turn many a player inside out.

The point was i thought the skill levels were lacking, and in what i see as a COMPETATIVE league due to their being coaches/managers at the games. Thats all, nothing else to it.

Lower Hutt Yo-Yos versus Porirua City was a well contested affair. A clash of styles with LH favouring long balls and a more physical approach against the passing and running game of the Blue Machine.

Got very wet after a downpour at half time. Game ended equal with both sides having hit posts and the bar on occasions....so probably a fair result overall.

Both sides remain in the hunt with six sides quite close at the top. Next couple of weeks should sort it out a bit with top sides playing each other.

PC remain focussed on a top two finish and promotion but a difficult ask now perhaps......

watched the Marist vs Karori prem game today, Karori 5-1 winners, pretty one sided and not the prettiest match to watch.

then went and watched the marist vs massey central league match. Unfortunately its not only the varsity men's teams which have issues keeping players during university holidays (i'm guessing this was the reason, not 100% sure)...9 players on the field for the first half, 8 in the second after an injury and marist racked up 7 or 8 at least. Bit unfortunate in a CL match

Me and the gang headed off to Seatoun for the Central League clash between Seatoun against Upper Hutt City. I know that it's not always so but I've never been to Seatoun for a game and it has NOT been windy. As usual, for me, it was windy. UHC played with the wind and and at half time were a goal down. Second half UHC got to be 2-1 ahead until the last FIVE seconds. Aaaaargh...     2-2 it finished. Hurts me to say it but great shot for the equaliser.
Now I know that UHC do fines for mentions on here so can I just say that _____ and _____ had sound games. Most impressive! Love to know what these two get fed at home but there's got to be, at least, bricks and mortar in their diet.
Zarina's (I think that's right) two strikes for Seatoun wwere quality.
The fish & chips we had, thanks to _____'_ mum  during the second half were excellent. Not sure if a  player's mum mention is a fine so best to be careful.

p.s. The bloke who was yelling at the ref post match was a tad silly (being polite) and I hope he'll look at himself and make some time to apologise.

Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

Great to get these reports. Keep it up! A last few seconds equaliser sounds exciting!!

Sundays womens football is worth a visit to all those who have not yet caught onto it. And thats all divisions.
