Flare in the WSW support, call off the game. That is a forfeit ....

No, flaresare allowed by the FFA's favourite team. They can do whatever they like.....even bringing instruments into Westpac.

Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

WSW going forward are pretty good but their defense is poor.

Some of these Kenyan born players are magic, and that first goal was.

Fantastic run by Kamau, Jamieson lost him completely

Jamieson gets a card. He's been plain awful today.

This game badly needs Leggy to dismiss WSW chances

Too much farting around from WSW. They've got wing backs free each wing and they try to go up the middle.

Hats off to Adelaide, under the pump for most of that second half but come away with the Toilet Seat.

Meanwhile WSW's hopes flushed down the S-bend for a third time.

What a great game. A great advertisement for the league.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

I don't know if it was the pitch or nerves or what but by God that was some shark football for a lot of that. Poor touches, shanked clearances, absolutely no shape or structure. The free-kick was nice at at least

We must have been watching two completely different matches. Some of the highest quality goals I've ever seen in the A League.

I would agree with Smithy at least on the free kick from Isaias, surely the most underrated DM in the league.

He had an exceptionally good game under pressure and hope he was considered for the MoM award.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

Isaias won the Joe Marston Medal for the best on the park in the final.

Right, I just noticed you were talking about the goals, not the game in general. The goals weren't bad. The free-kick was brilliant. Adelaide's first was well worked and helped by soft defending. WSW's goal was a really nice finish, but again , crap defending.  And Adelaide's 3rd was another nice finish, but only became a chance because a WSW player played a mindless hoof back towards his own goal box and another WSW guy couldn't bring it under control.

But the passages of play in between the goals were mostly just dire, IMO

Not sure how the shark we turned out on our way to finishing 2nd to last is relevant to the performance of the 2 best teams in the showpiece final

Because that is the standard for dire.

How often has a final , in any sport, able to be remotely called an epic showpiece? More often than not they are dour cagey affairs riddled with nervous mistakes.

By finals football standards last night was a pretty entertaining affair with some very good goals

Fair enough. I'm just being a grumpy old man. It could have been worse, it could have been that bad without the goals.

I agree with your sentiment. The pitch wasn't great, not as bad as previous finals but par for the course for HAL finals played a day after AFL/league/union, and meant players often had to take a second touch to get it under control. With the pressing in the first 45-60min it was a bit scrappy at times.
