With all the niggle Glory has been doing all game, I wanted the Victory to come back and win. But after that handball & dive, I really want the Glory to win now.

I've become a reluctant Victory supporter despite my best efforts, but them winning will be shit.

I look at the league table and think that the best team is Melbourne.

Glory had this game won. They were better for much of the game. You have to take your chances. The missed handball is one of those things that happen, especially when you let things slip.

Slater talks such bollocks it makes my brain melt. He really is a halfwit.

That stuff about Nagai being fouled was questionable as fuck. Then I watched a replay.

Finals football doesnt care for a table. You play crap on the day, whoever you are, youre out. Unless the Ref decides otherwise of course... Finals footballs a joke anyway, never been a fan of it, but you need it for a 10 team comp. Playing everyone 4 times over 36 rounds would would get old

"There was contact", Slater parrots over and over again. Mind you, compared to the Nabout/Pantelidis penalty-send off it probably was a deadset penalty.

I really hate this, sad that people see it as enough to justify fouls. What happened to football being a physical game?

The ref made some very poor decisions against both teams.

Classic Sky cut off , aaaaand we're out.

I think the Gillett hate will spare Smeltzy the blame from Glory fans for those great chances he missed tonight. He has been really poor all season.

I thought it was an enjoyable game to watch.  Nagai is a good player - like a Japanese Totori.  With all the controversy about the handball for the Victory penalty, it seems no one noticed the massive, cheating dive.  Shocking stuff

There was contact so you can hardly call it a dive but certainly not enough for it to be called a foul or for him to go down. Had that been in the centre of the pitch, play on. He just milked it and the ref bough a massive dummy

football is a contact sport, so there is allowed to be contact.  Was that contact the reason he fell to the ground?  No, the dive was.

It's similar to the Nagai penalty should in the box at the other end of the field that was turned down. There was contact, but there wasn't enough contact to warrant a foul, therefore the penalty was (correctly) denied that time.

A dive implies no contact. He simply milked the contact he got. I would not be calling that a dive, just play on.

So it's simulation then, rather than a dive?

A dive (or simulation according to FIFA) is feigning a foul, either with or with contact.

Simulation is the technical name for diving right? So its one in the same?

i think my definition of simulation is similar but slightly different to FIFAs, as I have learnt from 2B's post in here. I class anything that is an attempt to  decieve the referee as simulation, whereas I class a dive to be one instance of simulation, where the player goes to ground without contact and appeals to the referee for a foul.

But yeah, you are right, they are actually one and the same.
