Damn, that first goal from Ibini was red-hot. I love that guy and dread when we play him.

Think he's a bit of a dick, but he's a good player. Come on leaps and bounds at Sydney.

Sydney had a 27K croud for the semi final, that is not a good number, right?

Melbourne attendance was over 50K, that is pretty cool. Now they are forced to go to the smaller AAMI Park for the Grand Final.

Yeah I thought Sydney's croud seemed a little small. The Nix had a tenth of the population base, a harder trip for away fans, a Sunday evening kickoff and still managed to crack 10k the week before after all ;)

27k for a semi final on a Saturday night in a city of 4 million is surely less than you would hope for

This whole thing about crouds and population is silly. Beijing should therefore get a million spectators.

just how is it silly Leggy? What sort of croud would Mangaweka get for an A league match?

Have they got a stadium big enough? Of course population has an impact on croud sizes, how can it not? It's not the only factor of course but who said it was?

Population doesn't actually matter. Mangaweka could build a really nice stadium, create an A-League team and get crouds of 2,000 to each game. They would be massively over achieving in terms of croud sizes. It doesn't matter if Mangaweka does over achieve because 2,000 just isn't enough whatever your population.

As it is, you apparently need about 10,000 to break even. Right now we aren't getting that in Wellington and they are getting that in Sydney. Being below that 10,000 mark doesn't help the long term prospects of the A-League in Wellington. Maybe Sydney FC do do a poor job of engaging with their population but they do enough. The argument about crouds isn't about morals or 'feel good factor.' You want big crouds to make money.

but if it doesn't matter why would they not get 51000 like in Melbin ?

10k is what it takes for the 'nix with their current deal at the cake tin. If the deal was improved  (longer tenancy due to extended licence) that would drop the required attendance to break even. Syndey might need more or less than 10k.

Following this logic, the Nth Qld Fairies have a snowflake's of being readmitted to HAL.

They never broke through 7-8K if I recall, except maybe for the first game of Robbie Fowler's.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

I'm not sure why you say that population doesn't matter and then talk about how clubs need 10k to break even. Aside from that figure coming from the Nix a few years ago and maybe not being applicable to other clubs, the 5 clubs which have got more than 10k average this season are both Sydney teams (biggest popn to draw from) both Melbourne teams (2nd biggest popn to draw from) Brisbane (3rd biggest popn to draw from) and Adelaide (5th biggest popn). Perth just missed out on a 10k average and they have the 4th biggest population in Aussie. The 3 clubs with the lowest average attendance (us, CCM, Jest) are in the 3 smallest population centres. Clearly bigger population means bigger chance that you break 10k.

Rooting for sydney and would love to see Berisha get sent and super Kev explode.

Can't we offer Berisha two cows and Domey's first-born son to be our not-a-"not-a-striker" next year?

One of the cows would have to be given to his wife for an appearance in a fashion show so we could keep him under the cap.
