Crazy to think Beach did things not much better than that and is now in  Ligue 1 . Moral is that young keepers need time.

6 Cupsets now, 6 games where an A-League side lost to an NPL side. I can't but feel like this is a symptom of the Aliga getting weaker. Obviously because of the calenders Aliga sides are weakened by pre-season and what not, but the number of cupsets has been increasing recently and I wonder how much blame can be put on the schedule rather than Aliga clubs getting worse as time goes on

Adelaide United losing 0-2 at home to a Vietnamese club, perhaps a greater marker that the A League has dropped in quality.
Stefan Mauk returning to Hindmarsh with Cong An Ha Noi.

Personally I don't care much, if it offers more opportunities for younger talent, ie more a development type league than in past. Think that helps NZ/Aus football more than the earlier days of the ALM. Though the chances of an A League team ever repeating that miracle by Poppa's WSW of winning the AFC Champions League (Elite) is next to zero these days.

Vietnam League obviously different. Only 3 of the starters in Adelaide were Vietnamese, and at least one of those may have been naturalised.

Everybody just take a deep breath.......it's preseason. Yes, there has been some nice big investments in the Vietnamese League but it's still got a way to go.

Vietnamese League also in pre season mode.
Cong An Ha Noi's first competitive game in over 2 months, though their league's new season starts earlier in September.

Yes, but the A League can't afford Stefan Mauk and Jason Cummings. Both in Vietnam now. Going to be challenging for A League teams to get more foreign players this month.

Cummings is still unattached according to Wiki & Transfermarkt. Do you know something they don't?

APIA Leichhardt 1 v Sydney United 1 (APIA win on pens 3-2)
Brunswick Juventus 1 v Preston Lions 4
North Sunshine Eagles 0 v Heidelberg United 0 (Eagles win on pens 4-3)

The 'bergers losing to a team from VPL2 is a massive cupset.

SMFC v Prestin Lions in the quarters shapes to be a good one.

 APIA Leichhardt 0 v Melbourne Victory 1

APIA took Victory to extra time.

So now guaranteed an ALM vs NPL Final.

Might not be crazy to say an NPL side could take it this year. Not exactly inspiring performances from Sydney and Vuck

Preston Lions v South Melbourne | Hahn Australia Cup Quarter Finals

North Sunshine Eagles just got relegated to the 3rd tier in Victoria, so this is their only chance for glory this season.

Preston vs South Melbourne should be a great atmosphere tonight. Hopefully a fun & festive one.

Not gonna lie, a Victory vs South Melbourne Cup Final would be a cracker. So gotta cheer for SMFC tonight.

Can't believe that I actually want the Victory to win. If we could get a SMFC vs Victory Cup Final, that would be the first time their senior teams have ever played each other.

Melbourne Victory beat Sydney FC 2-0

Jack Duncan was very lucky to not give away a penalty (and maybe red card) in the first half flwhen he completely missed the ball and punched a Sydney player in the head.

We're now halfway to the matchup that (probably) everybody wants to see in the final - We have to wait until Tuesday now to see if South Melbourne can do their bit...
