GCU winning saved you I think. Also its a cup round, so you need to post a yellow card number. I tried pm-ing you, but your inbox is full.

Big Picks for the final:

Adelaide v Heart - Heart
Glory v Victory - Perth
Phoenix v CCM - Phoenix
Sydney v Jets - Sydney
GCU v Roar - Roar

Extra time: How many yellow cards in the round? 20

Edit: Did my picks blind from Oska's and have noticed same picks for all games, so have made a change so it's not just on yellow cards (although I'm kinda set on my last 4)Turfmoore2012-03-22 22:21:11

Congrats to playwithFire for having the highest correct tips. We probably should have had a 3-way tie, since there was only 58 home wins this season. Took me a little while to work out why playwithFire had 59 tho, Round 6 when GCU took their home game to Adelaide, I put Adelaide as the home team.

PS: this shows how unlucky you have been this season in the league Wolfman.

Say what you like, I am quite clearly the overall winner, as I am on top of Mel McLaughlin. Giggidy.

Thanks for another great season RR you are a true champion!

Fourth equal overall, one of only two to post an 18 point season and a Gold Cup. Solid season that.

Wolfman FC fans have been calling for the manager's head after 2 last-day promotion chokes, and a loss in the Bowl final. Fortunately, the chairman is an Arsenal fan, and believes long-term vision and fiscal stability are far more accurate measures of success than mere trophies .

That table goes a long way to justifying that faith. It should also be noted that the teams directly above and below me were promoted from League One at my expense - clearly League One was the toughest division to get out of.   I'm already looking forward to more promotion failures next season.

Well done to the winners, and a big thank you to Ryan's Rovers for running the competition, it's been great fun.

I'll back you up on League One being hard to get out of Wolfman, I narrowly missed out the first time, and finally made it out on the third go. I'm loving my Gold Spoon though, makes the season worthwhile when you win a Cup competition (cough Liverpool cough(.

I'm happy with that finish, not bad for a first go at it, and I'm looking for to having a crack at the Championship next season.

Thanks heaps RR for running this, it's made a whole bunch of games that I wouldn't have really cared about otherwise exciting and fun to watch!

i won the premiership in my last season, which was the highlight for me, my cup run was appalling. and some people might comment on my lack of goals throughout the seasons but defense wins championships. and my team couldn't be faulted there.   congrats to all who played and thanks RR for this, it was great fun.

I'm thinking the same in the first two games, however I believe Perth should have enough to beat Heart (3-1).

Also Cheers RR for another great season

I was planning on offering to run it again. Last season we had a good turn out, but given the state of the boards at the moment I don't know how many we would get. Hopefully we can get PM's coded into the boards before the season starts, so I can at least remind those that do play to be active.

I was considering 1 change for the upcoming season. Rather than just picking the winner, was thinking about introducing a margin aspect, kinda like the Jimungo Tipping does.

ie by home by 2+ goals, home by 1 goal, draw, away by 1 goal, away by 2+

Picking the right winner gets you 1 point, the winner & margin gets you 3 points. Draws would be 2 points.

The Head to Head system would stay, with different leagues for promotion/relegation. I thought that worked well, keeping the active players facing each other.

I am open to thoughts and suggestions tho.

I also noticed the A-league tweeted about an officall tipping & fantasy comps on their website, nothing is up about it yet tho.

So keen, last year was alot of fun

Permalink Permalink

Im keen.

Think Draws should be worth 3, or maybe 1 point for calling a draw, 3 if correct score.

Just because otherwise id probably stop picking draws knowing I could get more points picking correct score

Permalink Permalink

My reasoning behind suggesting 2 points for a draw is that there is only one option of how to get a draw, where as picking a team to win there is two options. So picking a team to win & margin should have a higher reward for the increased risk of being wrong about the margin, than the 'safer' draw.

I don't think the points difference would cause people to pick less draws. Picking a correct result is always the goal, and there are often games that have draws written all over them.

I like the two points for a draw.
