A-League Tipping Comp 2012-13

By popular request the A-League tipping competition is back for its fourth season. This you chance to show just how well you know your A-League. Each week over the season you will be able to pit your tipping skills against the forums best, in both league and cup competitions.

Each Sunday night I will post the upcoming weeks A-League fixtures and all you have to do is post your predictions before the first game of the round. Your tips are matched up against another player's tips in a head to head contest.

For your tips, you will need to pick a result and margin (no margin required for a draw) for each game in the round. The margin options are "winning by 1 goal" and "winning by 2+ goals".

Points:

Correctly picking the Winner - 1pt
Correctly picking the Winner & Margin - 3pt
Correctly picking a Draw - 2pt
Incorrect tip - 0pt

The points for each game in the round will be totalled to give you a score for your head to head match up.

League Structure:

Everyone will be sorted into a leagues of 8 players. You play everyone in your league once and at the end of the season, the top 2 in each league will be promoted and the bottom 2 will be relegated.

If you win your head to head match up you will get 3 league points, a draw will get you 1 point and a loss results in 0 points.

Over the course of the A-League season, we will play 3 seasons of league games.

Cup Structure:

We have 6 A-League rounds for a Cup competition. The Cup structure will be decided based on how many players are involved. It will occur throughout the A-League season.

If you win your head to head match up you will progress into the next round. A loss and you will drop into a lesser Cup competition. There will be a tie breaking option to prevent draws in the head to head match ups.

Existing players:

If you played last season and post that you will be playing again before midnight Sunday 30th September, you will retain your position in the league structure from the last season of last years competition. Any vacancies in leagues after the deadline will lead to players being promoted to fill these games.

New Players:

New players are welcome. I will add you into leagues after the deadline, on a first come first served basis. You can post your willingness to play before that deadline.

Will be interesting to see how my former strategies work out with this new scoring system.

Was gonna go for all draws again this season, but that means I can only get 10 points max whereas just picking a winner gives me the chance of 15 points. Would be interesting to see how both systems worked. But this year you can lock me in for every game as home team winning by 1.

Woohoo!! Promoted to the Championship without kicking a ball! That ought to keep the manager safe for a few more weeks ;)

Kinda stinks that the runner up from 2 seasons ago ends up in the Championship!!

Hopefully once we finish the first league round, Wellnik would have spruced the site up a bit and there will be more people back here to join in.

Oh cr*p, the Melbourne Derby tonight is a Victory home game, not Heart as I have listed. Hope this hasn't stuffed up any ones tips. Not a great start on my part.

These are the current Leagues. We have spots for 3 more in League One, hopefully we can fill those before tonight's kick off. If not, I will use some websites tips as fillers. The knockout cup will be run over Season Two and Three, with 3 rounds in each season.
