I think the mods are at it again :')
I'll drink to that though, LG.
I don't mind it.
Yes Corica won the A-league but have a chat with any Sydney fan about how much that was on him and his tenure after the title.
Big old bucket of particularly sour grapes this one
I thought Baiter must have died. First posts for awhile.
Time (age) certainly hasn't mellowed him.
Declan being Declan he wouldn't have let Hay near his precious young Ole charges, if he didn't rate Danny as a coach. Even if the Mad Hatter was at every ES training that 18/19 season. Edge was often reluctant for his players to play for NZ age group teams, if he openly didn't rate the relevant national team coaches!
Aha...
It was a while ago now, but I remember Edge actually being relatively invisible in the latter half of the season? But maybe I'm just mis-remembering.
na he was full noise for that season - the following season he disappeared.
Edit: yes it was where the first fleet landed and the site of the penal colony
All I’ve seen so far is splinter groups pushing their own little exclusive circles. You need something the wider fandom. Not to pick on The Port particularly, but who is going to jump at the chance to sign up for that? Ex Wharfies maybe? There is just no relation to the club.
Branding is powerful. Come up with something that will tie back to the club somehow and have meaning.

Friday Knights. - that’s when you drum up the excitement to get fans keyed for Saturday’s game
One Knight. - could call the fan zone One Knight Stand. And implies unity.
The Armoury - knight related and implies both attack and defence.
I have seen a reference to the "Black Squires" for the Reserves side, the equivalent of the WeeNix. These two teams are guaranteed to play each other once a season in the National League and I'd foresee one or two extra games between them might be arranged for Dec/Jan/Feb.
The analogy could be extended to "The Peasants" and "The Serfs" for the supporters
Not to mention The Faery Queens
Ps On a Sth Island roadie atm and would you believe it saw a hardback (Folio edition) history of the mythical Black Knights in a Murchison 2nd hand shop. $25 a step too far.
End of the ALM & most European seasons I reckon. They will want to unveil their first signings in person, complete with obligatory scarf held above head. Maximise the PR and marketing. Could be 10 plus guys all in attendance at once as a bit of a statement.
All a bit lame if make annoucements now, without the players actually present. Plus yeah all the NZ ALM focus is currently on the Nix. Better to wait for clear media air.
I presume the AWs will have an Albany camp, before June's (15th-30th) OFC Nations Cup in Vanuatu. So players starting to arrive in NZ early June, some of whom could be new Auckland FC signings. ALM Final is 25-26th May. So maybe a first Black Knights squad unveiling early June.
The generally accepted practice is to not announce them until their teams have finished for the season. That way you avoid the Sail/Lewis angst our fan base had at the end of last season.

He's the one import I want the Nix to keep. Use the money for the other foreigners to keep him here.
I'm happy if Ball (age catching up) and Zawada (too injury prone) are let go.
If Salas and Wotton are on small coin keep, if not let them go too as we've got good young kiwis coming up in their positions.
And you'd be a fool to want to get rid of Wootton.
And you'd be a fool to want to get rid of Wootton.
Wootton's had a great season, and yes would be dumb to get rid of him. Seems that Adam Griffiths has got the best out of him.
It's the young Kiwi defenders like Surman, LK-H and Hughes that will at some point hopefully be moving on. All for a nice transfer fee with luck.
And you'd be a fool to want to get rid of Wootton.
True Wotton has been good this season, a real "Purple Patch", all down to Adam I'm sure. Will he continue or revert to form ala Burns?
I'd rather see kiwi lads come through and take his spot next season.

Yeah it's a poor comparison. Marto just doesn't like Wootton, but SW & Surman have been a great CB pairing this season. Under Grittiths's tutelage I think Wootton has also been more vocal than past. He was captain last week with Rufer absent?
The Nix have often had their best seasons when their invested experienced Brit imports have been firing. Greeny & Ifill. Taylor & Hooper. Wootton & to a lesser extent Ball.
But yeah the club model is developing & selling their Academy players. You want Surman leaving (for a fat fee). Not Wootton.
Ifill, Greenie and Tim Brown or remodeled Taylor, Hooper and David Ball?

We’ve heard there’s plenty of homegrown talent here in Auckland...

Tell us in the comments where we should go next week and you might make your Auckland FC debut.
Who knows, maybe the Gaffer will show up one time 👀 pic.twitter.com/V60EH8079X

Looks more like Ed Sheeran to be honest. 😂
But no, that's not Corban Piper - Too far south of the bridge for him anyway. Those lads are from Ellerslie AFC.
I did note on 3 news when it talked about signing it started off with saying we beat out Auckland for him... already the rivalry aspects of having two clubs I think is paying off in terms of coverage.
Youth players don't normally get media attention.
