Auckland FC - Once the Knights, Always the Knights
Posted a couple of weeks back, but nice to see confirmation of Jonathan Gould as GK coach.
Really good appointment for Auckland that.
Any news on Corban Piper YH? Surely he'd be a good pickup as a scholarship player, though will be 22 in September.
Nah I haven't heard anything, but I've been a bit lazy and haven't kept up with my player rounds of late.
Might be time to flick out a few messages and see who's biting on the domestic scene.

That boy is some athlete. So are a few of those Birko boys. Definitely a few rough diamonds floating around the Northern League scene. Look at Grieve who went straight from Birko to St Mirren and was playing within a month or two.
anyone know what this refers to? story directly underneath reports Howieson etc signing. Have FC done a deal with Melbourne for the old chap clapping?

Hiroki Sakai isn't far away from being confirmed.
We're pretty much just waiting on an announcement at this point.

ok, nothing to get excited about then (second time over anyway)
Corica said July-August for visa player announcements
Friday night we headed down to Mt Albert Ponsonby AFC

There’s a lot of great young talent at this club! I’m sure we’ll see them in blue and black soon.

Michael Woud - our very first signing, was the first person to train at our new ground. Gouldy getting straight to work! pic.twitter.com/nwqzbOIl8G

The Knights Mk1 only got involved with Massey Uni Albany (with my input) and Waitakere United (don't know how much the Kingz did, maybe Bloc5 boys know).
Hopefully Gouldy can iron out Wouds weaknesses and provide the AWs with another dependable keeper for competition. I don't think we've ever had this many competent keepers at one time (Paulsen, Crocombe, Taznav, Sail, and fingers crossed Woud).
As a fan of all things kiwi football, I can't wait to get home at Christmas/New years and watch both the Nix and Knights play. Super excited for next season.
Man on the ground says he was training separately from team yesterday - A Light run after the rest of them were done and dusted, so yeah he's either been sick or carrying a slight niggle.
I guess there is no need to rush anything at this stage of pre season anyway.
011: Jake Brimmer

Auckland FC welcomes Jake to the club 👏

He was pretty average at the VUC last season under Poppa. At age 26, might be leaving it late for that big move to Europe. But interesting that both him & Hall (age 25) have chosen AFC over presumably other Aussie club suitors.
Foley's cash making a difference already.

The 26-year-old, the 2021-22 recipient of the Johnny Warren Medal, which is awarded to the A-League Men’s best player, was unveiled by Auckland FC head coach Steve Corica during a pre-season training session at North Harbour Stadium.
Brimmer, who has been praised for his all-action style of play and goal-scoring ability, has also been named in the A-League All-Star team and received Melbourne Victory’s Victory Medal.
I was expecting AFC, to sign one top kiwi player who was off contract to make a statement. Realistically that could only be Rojas or Singh.
As Rojas is off the table, my money is on Singh being signed and delivered.

That would make for some incredibly fiery derbies of a high standard. Wow. What a thought.

Only a step back if he has a Europe team interested in him that will give him regular game time, he could be a star in the a-league and maybe get another chance in Europe.
The keeping of receipts in this place when balls have been placed on the line is absolutely top notch. 😂
There is a feeling in my toes that something big is coming
Anyway chill, it's just a bit of banter.
We are thrilled to finally announce Go Media Stadium as the new home playing venue of Auckland FC for the next 5 years ⚽
