Sydneys quality has stood up today, so far Melbournes haven't. That's the difference

Great goal but the what the f**k was Vargas thinking? Can't believe he didn't try to shut him down earlier.

To be fair Ifill was shutdown 3 times in a row against Sydney

After Friday's game, Paul Ifill said his vote for player of the season was Carlos Hernandez.  He said he was one player he'd pay to watch.

Don't much like Kruse, but that was a bloody rubbish tackle.  Like to see someone try that on Muscat (the wrong one). Addicks2010-02-14 20:48:55

commentators mention that Nathan Elasi will be released by Melbourne. I wonder if the Nix are keeping him on the radar to replace Costa. But don't know if he'll qualify for a youth spot.

also, lots of injury concerns for Melbourne...be interesting to see what we would do, were we to hypothetically play them at some point..

I suspect Kruse may have a broken bone in his leg, or broken ankle.

Ifill and Hernandez are very different in style but have been equally influential for their teams. Hard to pick between them. Do love to watch Hernandez I have to say.

Did I just hear the commentators say the game (1st leg) is Thursday?

Edit: They answered my question soon after, why Thursday? AFL on Friday/Saturday?

He can't very well watch himself can he?... but yeah, Hernandez is a pretty handy little player but just shows how effective Sydney are as a unit... and how well coached. Hernandez has been virtually anonymous, as was Iffy... they did the same with the Furries - isolated his G-ness and they had nothing to go forward with.

Effective. Very.
