Studs Up: Mistrust of ‘football people’ must end, says David Davutovic

FORGET the VAR distraction, the FFA board AGM is the most important day for Aussie football in years, as the first democratic election since the early 2000s.

To describe the way it's unfolding as underwhelming, is … an understatement.

In the media conference following the vote of FFA Congress, outgoing FFA Chairman Steven Lowy once again spoke of his ‘fears’ regarding “foreign interests” in football. It is a familiar theme. He wrote about it in 2017 and has returned to it regularly ever since.

"Rob Morrison owns 100% of Investnix."   fact or fiction?

Fact and Fiction

Rob does own 100% of Investnix but Investnix don't own 100% of the nix.

The Nix are owned by the Welnix Limited Partnership. In an LP there are two classes of partners, General & Limited and only the general partners have to be disclosed publicly (the only general partner of Welnix LP is Welnix GP, which is ultimately 100% owned by Rob Morrison via Investnix). The ownership split between the partners is set out in the partnership agreement, which is not publicly available, so we don't know the identity of the limited partners or their share in the LP.

Basically from publicly available info we know that Rob Morrison is a 100% owner of Investnix, which is a part owner of Wellnix LP but we don't know who the other partners in Welnix LP are or what the split of ownership in Welnix LP is.

interesting article, especially given the FFA is so big on developing the Aussie game and yet several of their major clubs are owned by foreign business entities.

Craig Foster - Believe In Our Game

Players carry a lifelong responsibility to serve the game in return for everything the game gives us. This is why I have put so much on hold in an effort to help the game in a time of critically important reform. The decisions we make in the next year or two will fundamentally determine the long term future of the game we love and that so many wonderful people have contributed to for the past 150 years.

PFA put their Team out

To this end, the PFA Executive has nominated its Chief Executive John Didulica and its Deputy Chief Executive Kate Gill to act as the PFA’s nominees within the FFA Membership.

Furthermore, the PFA is proud to confirm that Lydia Williams, Elise Kellond-Knight and President Alex Wilkinson will act as the its nominees on the Women’s Football Council. To have three of game’s most successful and respected players serving the sport in this capacity is a great demonstration of the power of the new governance model.

Finally, the PFA has also supported the nominations of Craig Foster and Heather Reid AM to the Board for election.

FSA - Join the Bun Fight

New directions in football governance, so time to vote the ‘right way’

A statement issued by Football Supporters Australia (FSA), 8 November 2018

Football Supporters Australia is an advocacy-based national independent incorporated association, registered in Victoria. It has an interim board ahead of the inaugural AGM in early 2019, including the election of office bearers, adoption of a formal constitution and establishment of a membership structure. The association’s board comprises volunteers from a range of professional backgrounds including medicine, IT, business and research, and all are non-aligned with other major stakeholders and special interest groups.

7 Days to FFA AGM

The most significant order of business is the replenishment of the FFA board. The board is comprised of nine directors, six elected and three appointed. Four of these elected positions are up for grabs at the AGM, including the role of chair. By the end of Monday’s meeting FFA will not be chaperoned by a member of the Lowy family for the first time in its existence.

New chair wants to see two new A-League teams next year. Who doesn't? And forget ten more years for the Nix - I want what the other established teams have in terms of long term contracts. Basically, an equal playing field. Anything less would be a huge injustice.

I think its been well established that Wellington cant get a bigger licence then a 10 year deal from the FFA because of the AFC/OFC & FIFA signing off on them is limited in terms of years.

Please correct me if I am wrong but im sure I read it a few times.

So it is "Football Federation Australia (FFA) has today taken a decision to extend the licences of the nine Australian clubs in the Hyundai A-League until 2034." we are going for!

EDIT: That screws the promotion relegation until 2034. as I can not see the 9 Franchised handing back liceeneses

Where did you get 2034? And if we really couldn't get a comparable extension - because we need other people to sign off on it - the very least would have to be a new, ten year licence, with no strings like the 'cr*p metrics they tried to lumber us with last time. With a guarantee of at least ten years, I'd hope the owners would revisit the idea of a new Nix home ground.

I thought that during the save the nix campaign it came out that AFC and FIFA really didn't care as long as the FFA was happy with it?
