FIFA need to step in asap. Doing so would make Clives chances of a successful court case against FFA much smaller.

Yet another article about the new Palmer vehicle Football Australia

http://www.couriermail.com.au/sport/soccer/clive-palmer-has-formed-his-own-football-association-to-take-on-foootball-federation-australia/story-e6frepmf-1226286417601

just loved this quote....
"The next broadcast deal is crucial to the future of the A-League and its clubs, including some which have been losing millions of dollars a season, Mr Palmer said.

The club owners I have spoken with are concerned that we will end up with a long term TV deal which is bad for the sport and significantly undervalued.

Which person has single handedly caused more damage than anyone to Football in Australia and provided the PERFECT opportunity for the networks to shoot down negotiation gains??

Look at some of the evidence...
-Throwing obscene amounts of money around as a "look at me" big noter, trumpeting all sorts of outrageous claims after five minutes in the game,...
-Choosing to field an under-experienced, poorly performing team of largely youth players this season, having failed to retain a quality roster assembled by staff who knew what they were doing in previous seasons...
-Abject failure in consistently engaging the local community and football fans and subsequently capping the Skilled park Crowds, thereby alienating even the few loyal ones and destroying any chance of a decent atmosphere and strong vocal support at home games.
-Consistently publicly bagging the FFA, Ben Buckley and Frank Lowy and ignoring the rules laid out for participation in A-League ownership.
-Stating in an interview that you don't even like Football and Rugby League is a better game..!!
-Taking your main shirt sponsor to court during the season and replacing their logo with a political statement.
-Firing your Coach for speaking sense about the captaincy role.

There's plenty more but its obvious to most that Palmer is  irrational, confused, over-endowed with money and lacking in much common sense, and a serious danger to football in these parts.Shutting him up though, there's a challenge!

Possibly his ultimate agenda is to gut the A League entirely and form his own breakaway league, something he did mention in his diatribe last week. This would leave us with something similar to what's happening in Indonesia where football has been in turmoil for the last few years, with a FIFA approved Premier League and a non-aligned Superleague.

In this situation FIFA is threatening to kick Indonesia out of FIFA if they don't get things sorted out - no idle threat either I would imagine. We have already seen the wider havoc caused by a Superleague team going to court and winning their case to be granted an ACL playoff against Adelaide.

There is real potential for Palmer to totally ruin the A League. I would say he couldn't give a flying f**k what FIFA says. He believes he has enough money and power to stomp Lowy and co and eventually bring FIFA onboard. Who knows, maybe he's right.

Its this that really worries me,he has shown in the past he is real vindictavie prick. He has already shown with some of his actions with GCU that he really couldnt give a sh*t about the fans or football in general.
From some of the forums i have read many over the other side of the ditch are loving this, not really sure how some of them think it can be helping our game at all.

Some are enjoying the sh*ts and giggles mostly because they believe this will pass & Football will soldier on as it has had to in one of the most competitive sporting environments outside of the US.

Yes it will pass but its the damage that it may leave in its wake that is the worry.

Palmer is bad bad new for the a-league, he has enough money to play with this as long as he wants - the FFA do not.

If he does some how succeed and destroy the A-League, I wonder where it will leave the Phoenix, I imagine a New Zealand team would be given the boot by Palmer.

And being blacklisted by FIFA really would cut down your job opportunities wouldn't it.

Not like when Super League occurred, you're choices was the Aussie and English Super Leagues.

non-FIFA competitions. .well i guess there's always Indonesia...

I'm really gobsmacked at the naivity of some people, HardNews put it in a nutshell - this will blow over, Palmer has nowhere to go with any rival organisation. The wildcard might be a Court decision in favour of some injunction by Palmer but he is a right plonker - more money than sense. Unfair to insinuate that he and Wynton Rufer would be a good pair - Wynton has football at heart regardless of how else you perceive him.

Yeah you kinda wonder what Clives motivation is. If its to be a public watchdog to make sure the FFA stay accountable then let him go for it. He seems to forget that if this even looks like getting out of hand, AFC will come in, and then FIFA overtop.

This (along with other stupid comments and stuff) strikes me as a petulant kid wanting attention and it really will be done with shortly. Regardless what a judge says, FIFA and their confederacies and member associations do not allow laws, politics and religion to get involved. Give it a week and we will be talking about something else.

Not everyone on here knows exactly how football associations work and how this is going to pan out, I would think they would be curious (as I am) to know more about the situation without being called "naive", chill out dude.

The 'Wynton' comment is stupid but I'm laughing, thats all that matters.

Also, thank you sir, for providing a little bit more information regarding the court case.

A-League boss Lyall Gorman has refused to rule out Gold Coast United playing on next season.

Football Federation Australia has let United play out its final four games of the season after taking control of the club following owner Clive Palmer being stripped of his A-League licence.

Gorman says he has been so impressed by talks with United players that he will speak with key stakeholders to ensure the Gold Coast's future.
