Antony Golec expected to sign for Wanderers tomorrow (Another ACL signing?)

Guess his move to China didn't happen (Wikipedia already says signed for WSW)

Just signing up for the ACL it sounds. The interesting thing will be if WSW need an injury replacement, could they use one of these ACL players? Golgol wouldn't be able to be used, unless he got an 'exceptional circumstances' waiver like Tiago did.

Ernie spoke about the Aussie a-League clubs being able to contract 3 NYL players outside the first team roster. I can't see why we cannot sign some youngsters, outside the A-League roster now.

Yeah 100% this, seems like it should be fine, we can't play them in the A-League,  but can have them on contract.

Are WSW going to be the new GCU next season? Will they have any players left?

Does seem that there will be a major shake up of the playing roster.

I do wonder how much the change of ownership is hurting their planning for next season.

A-League has been ranked 99th in the world by the IFFHS. I don't think the A-League is a great league by world standards, but 99th seems rather low to me! Below Singapore & Zimbabwe?

I guess this is a result of A-League teams being rubbish in the ACL.

TBH I'm not really sure how they arrive at these results. Think it has something to do with the points accumulated by the top teams in each league and multiplying it by the country coefficient so in a close league with few teams like the A-League this would mean less points than a league with many teams and a few dominant clubs such as La Liga. So actually results in ACL may not even be factored in. Not sure though maybe someone else has a better idea?

I think it could be the result of

            A x B + D (whenever D is a multiple of A) - C (where C is a % of Y)

            ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
                       Y x B sqd. x A (wherever A is a lesser co-efficient than Y

Whaddya reckon?

Haha, must be something wrong the math in the stats, I totally ignore that. Egypt is place 46, are they even playing any football at the moment?

Dunno if mentioned elsewhere but Roar are interested in a 37 year old (maybe 38 by the time he gets here) Francesco Totti apparently: http://www.footballaustralia.com.au/news-display/transfer-rumour-%7C-roar-hunting-totti/87743

Would have to be under the cap, unless Broich took a pay cut.

TWG is running with the Hersi to Glory story.

Didn't even think of Broich. Maybe he's on his way? Although the more obvious answer is that the Totti story is bogus.

They couldn't re-sign Berisha because Broich takes up their marquee spot next year. But maybe FFA will give them an exemption on the basis the A-League needs some Totti.

that is a rather strange article, i'm not sure Cockerill understands what is happening with the fan groups tbh.

He does make a good point. Why is active support prioritised over non-active support.

Not sure where fan groups that demand things  get off tbh. Sure outline concerns, but do it in a private matter, and let the people that pay in charge make up their own mind.

He has lumped The Cove calling the club out over their perceived lack of direction in the club, together with the RBB and NT's complaints over restrictions placed on them. They are two clearly distinct issues and to then go off on the criminal element tangent is insane.

As stakeholders in a club, the fans should be able to voice their concerns over the running of a club. Yes, the active support voices are louder than non active but the meeting Sydney had with fans was open to all members. Not saying the club should bow down to the fans and give into their demands but they would be foolish to not take on board the concerns raised.

The league has marketed the atmosphere created by the more active fans as a point of difference from other codes. This has, maybe not intentionally, placed more worth on them and in turn some of those fans have gotten a greater sense of self worth and entitlement than they should have.

http://www.smh.com.au/sport/soccer/aleague-academies-a-great-step-forward-for-australian-football-20140322-hvljt.html

"The imminent Wanderers’ sale will deliver a dividend of several hundred thousand dollars to each Australian club which, I understand, FFA will stipulate is to be used to start the new A-League academy system, at least down to under 12 level."

Good news for the Aussie clubs. Although in the scheme of a professional football academies a couple of hundred grand isn't a huge deal.

And I'm fine with that. But giving the 'noisy stadium' as a reason sets a terrible precedent, it basically means nobody could possibly be charged for racism in the future due to 'crowd noise' possibly distorting what was said.
It's all incredibly ridiculous.
