Bay 22, Wellington is the home of football.!
The arrival of Auckland FC is going to be great for football in NZ. I think the majority of Nix fans are eagerly looking forward to the presence at last of a proper derby rival, with promise of large numbers of travelling fans. Those two games per season should be huge and good fun.
But I hope for the Black Knights sake, 'Up. The Port.' doesn't stick as a catch cry. Seems a bit of a contrived crusade by 1-2 of their fans on their FB page. Hopefully over time organically they get a Yellow Fever type fan group, that come up with better material than that. Stuff that makes you say yipe that identifies the 09.
imanixsupporter it's cringe.
imanixsupporter Yeah it is a strange one, usually fans would cheer on their team rather than their supporters group, it would be like instead of us saying 'Come on you Nix' we said 'Come on you Yellow Fever'.
Supporters groups usually are the ones doing the cheering on, not the ones needing to BE cheered on!
Doloras
Why do we need to suggest an alternative name? I'm pretty sure some have already in other threads but also we're mostly Nix supporters so why should we?
They can do what they want and we can say it's shark. That's fine imo.
Procrastinixing
Yas! Wellington is the home of football. Nix!
Marto it's the area code for landlines in Auckland
Marto wellington 04, Waikato 07, Auckland 09.
You must have never dialled a landline

Not in a long long long time! Been out of NZ since '06. WhatsApp etc for calls nowadays.
Assuming the Glory have drawn the short straw and had a Home game transferred to Sydney for the Unite Round.
Sucks indeed.
Yeah, looks like a cost cutting measure to me - Although they do seem to be trying to spin it as making it more accessible for the fans
Anyone afraid of what’s coming? Up. The. Port. 🔵⚫️🔵⚫️
Is it common for people to say "up the supporters' group"? Has anyone ever said, "up the yellow fever"?
Or do you guys like saying "up the p0rt" as a joke, because of the penetrative connotations?
Edit: fudge, got autocorrected. I didn't mean to say "Wellington is the home of football" has penetrative connotations.

I guess "Up the Purt" is like a wish and they have to keep wishing it until they turn into a real active supporter group.
A lot of people are missing the point. You may or may not think "Oop Da Peurt" (edit: word filter lol) is cringe, but no-one has come up with an alternative which has become popular. Someone suggested "AK Ultras", which I would personally like because it sounds like a brand of machine gun, and if that overtakes The Port, so be it.
But saying "this name is cringe" without suggesting an alternative that becomes more popular is self-defeating. This is what always happens with name debates - if you don't want to waste weeks or months, you've just got to run with whatever gets traction first.
Anyway, I've warmed to "The Port" since someone on Facebook opposed it because it sounded like a reference to wharfies and was therefore too communist (notwithstanding that an actual left-wing active support group is forming!)

Ive suggested a better name 🔵
I mean glass houses- it’s not exactly like come on Phoenix or worse come on eunuchs are brilliant rallying cries.
Vague coherency and enough people getting into them is all they really need.
The test will be the preseason games and then the first game they play.

Their official Twitter account is using "Up tha P0rt".
It's Aucklover.
It's never been more Aucklover than it is now.

Who knows, one of these lads could be the future star of Auckland FC.
Auckland is FULL of homegrown talent and we can't wait to get amongst all the clubs.

I found this site which shows the table for the entire A Leagues existence. Interesting that even though we've played fewer games than Newcastle, we have more wins. We were 8th on the table at the beginning of the season and overtook them.
We are also five wins from catching up to Perth Glory

Where does '09 for Auckland come from? As a born Jafa I don't get it.
I think AFC's fans should play on Jafa or '09 (what ever that means).
