“If the coach wants to play, the game goes ahead. However, the club has the option to ask for a postponement if they have five or more players from the previous match team sheet that are out with COVID,” Townsend said.

To make up time for the postponed games, the APL will play rounds through both the January and March men’s international windows and will play midweek games when possible.

I hate the new A league Keep-Up web site.
Trying to find game stats. Try and watch some post match highlights and they want you to sign up to Paramount. (what's the point of that in NZ.)
Anyone got other sites that have game stats and highlight video's, post match pressers?

wow, that would be great to have been involved in. Imagine if we had another NZ based team - we could set up our own quad-team exhibitions on a reasonably regular basis.

The thought of playing an Old Firm derby in front of casual fans on the other side of the world doesn't seem to have gone down well with Celtic/Rangers fans online.

Yeah, we brought Sydney in on our Newcastle and Westham tourny, least they could have done was extend this invitation to us in return.

I've been searching for the A League Women's play off series, does anyone know what the set up is and when it's meant to start?

Depends on the timing. If it was to occur before the Grand Final, it will only include players from knocked out teams.

So not really an all stars team then?

Barca vs the Already Knocked Out Stars

So Sail a red hot chance of being selected. But unlikely anyone else from the Nix??

Could be tricky for Oli if he is is picked, as AWs will likely be going into early camp around May 25th (though the June window doesn't start until May 30th), and may even be playing a friendly in late May. So if Sail wants to unseat Marinovic for the Playoff probably needs to go into AWs camp when it starts.

Though playing Barca in front of a full house, a once in a lifetime experience, with a few club scouts watching no doubt.

highly doubt any nix player will be selected. Sail would be the only one i'd consider and there are probably 3 that the aussie fans would select before him.
Jamie Young,
Mark Birighitti
Andrew Redmyne
even Thomas Glover

Surely they won't pick any NZers. its an Aussie show in Sydney.

I'll stick this here, though unlikely that any will be signed to the ALM.

In the end they lost 5-0 in the final to New Zealand, but nine of Felipe Vega-Arango’s side are now looking to earn professional deals in Australia.

The players currently trialling, according to the Solomon Star, are captain Micah Lea’alafa, Ian Kalu, Don Keana, Atkin Kaua, Javin Wae, William Komasi, Carlos Liomasia, Junior David and Prince Tahunipue.

The nine players are  basing themselves in Queensland for the time being with trials said to be being arranged with several clubs across the country.

A tenth player, Ali Mekawir, headed to Adelaide for his trial. He has now signed a deal with Adelaide City, defending champions in the National Premier League South Australia.

It is also reported that three other players, including their top-scorer in Qatar, Raphael Lea’i, were invited to stay in Australia to undergo trials as well. Unfortunately, Lea’i and two others, imposing centre-back Leon Kofana and winger Alvin Hou, had to head back home to recover from minor injuries.

It should come as no surprise that Lea’i’s performances caught the eye of potential professional suitors. The forward joint-led the scoring charts in Qatar until New Zealand’s Premier League striker Chris Wood went clear in the final.

After that game, Solomon Islands boss Vega-Arango touched on the topic of Lea’i potentially having trials elsewhere, even suggesting he would speak to clubs in his native Spain about the talented teenager.

“If I was him, I would not go for a trial if I am honest with you,” Vega-Arango told the press.

“You must offer him something. He has proved what he can do.”

What is even the point of having a salary cap now?

Victory had to be able to bring Nani in without effecting the rest of the squad, good to see the league is sticking with the old FFA's plan on operation.

All teams knew about this, it was agreed to last season.

Pretty sure I read that the APL is helping fund the Nani move tho.

Sounds like contract that has been offered is in the range of $2m each for both Nani and Fabregas. APL is covering 50% of these wages. Nani to Victory and Fabregas to Macarthur (Macarthur most likely, Western United and Sydney also in discussions) - sticking point seems to be Australian taxes, that the players don't want to pay...

Rumour has it Nani is a done deal, Fabregas a little to go.

Wonder if Sky will pick up any of these?
Only 3 of those games featuring an AL team, that's a bit shark.

A-League Mens Grand Final Winner Odds

City $3.50
Victory $4
Sydney $7
Wanderers $7
Western $9
Macarthur $10
Adelaide $13
Jets $17
CCM $21
Phoenix $26
Roar $34
Glory $51

Not sure why you would have Sydney at that price right now.
