You don't know that the ref had not already blown for the penalty, so it would make no differance.

Nor do you. Someone appealing makes a difference. No point there.

I can believe AJ, not everyone would carry on like Berisha

The best team doesn't always win, do they?
Best team was Mariners, top of the table - you cant argue this. Look at Roars 6 in a row losing streak. In my book if youre sh*t enough to lose 6 games in a row, youre not good enough to be champions - AND in the top leagues around the world you wouldnt be. If Barca or Man U lost 6 in a row they wouldve thrown away all hope of taking a title weeks ago.

You may be right, but both Brisbane and the Mariners lost 6 games each.Pretty even I would have thought.

I don't believe that just because you appeal, the ref takes any notice.

Well, yeah, you can.

Brisbane played them off the park both legs of their semi final. That after only finishing 2 pts behind them in the league.

Doesnt mean anything. Teams lose to everyone throughout the season, in every league around the world.  It throws the form book out the window, it throws consistency out the window, it throws a seasons worth of hard work to finish as the best side at the top of the table out the window.

Imagine if they did this in Europe and you had Arsenal and Atletico winning titles this season... i just dont like this play off system, its the biggest down fall to having such a small league - its needed to keep it going as long as overseas leagues run for.

Complain to the FFA then.

Brisbane won, deal with it.

Three for me, and two for them.

I think they need to sort 2 things for next season.

More focus needs to be on the team finishing top after the round robin, proper presentation even if it is away from home. Not good enough that CCM were never honoured in that way

Plus finals need to be shortened and become its own "thing" not the defining part of the whole season. As they say on 442 we spend 27 weeks finding out the best team and then 4 weeks checking

Actually 3, sort out the refs

Normo's coming home

Since you put all of your weight on the side of the foot you are shooting with to score...

Players score goals and end up on the ground from them all the time.

He didnt dive, he did act like a 12 year old girl who dropped his lollipop.
The thing that most concerns me is the effect this will have on the league as a whole. it doesnt do much good for the reputation of the league in this part of the world.
Brisbane are obviously the best team in the league, but that is completely irrelevant.

Mark Rudan makes a good point about the ball clearly bobbling up causing Berisha to miss it.

Exactly the same thing happened early in the game and Berisha was kicking the turf in frustration.

Ironically, the sh*tty Suncorp turf has probably won Brisbane the game.

Watching the penalty decision again, the plant foot is touched by Perth. His plant foot then knocks the ball into the air. He then missed it, but only because his foot was knocked into putting the ball into the air.

Penalty decision was correct.

Okay, say the penalty wasn't awarded.

Perth were down to 10 men, Brisbane were all over them. Brisbane would have won even if it were in ET.

Teams with 10 men successfully park the bus all the time.

Not saying Perth would have, but they could have.

Okay I accept that not everything happens the way you think it will in football (take the first 80 mins of that game for example), but I do think Brisbane would have won anyway.

Here's so more controversy, Berisha was offside when the ball was played to him before the peno...

Is any body really surprised that the season ends with a sh*tty refs decision. The season has been littered with some very poor displays.
More a very bad refs call than a dive in my opinion.Everyone hates him but would love Welnix to get one just like him.

Have no reason to doubt that this is offside, but is it the goal move or does the ball go out wide?

I think it's the goal move. The ball goes right and Berisha runs onto it and breaks through the defenders. Will need to watch replay again though to be sure.

Seems Gillett's partner works for the Roar. Not suggesting that clouded his judgement, but it is not a good look.

This time last year we were talking about an amazing comeback. This time we are discussing whether it was a penalty or not. So much has changed.

If true, totally inappropriate appointment.

Anyone who knows a modicum about managing conflicts of interest, especially PERCEIVED conflicts, would steer well clear of such a situation.

Accordingly I find it hard top believe, or am somewhat gobsmacked by FFA incompetency.

I know, I know, its serious!

Correct call or not, Perth can't complain too much, after all it was a horrendous non-call when Ifill was brought down that helped them advance to play CCM.  So sorry for  Burns .
