How have they had so much possession but done so little with it?

Three for me, and two for them.

Probably because when they've played VPL teams it was all they needed to get the win.

And Skoko gets a bath after a pretty poor game, though to be fair, Simon worked hard to nullify him.

Not the beautifullest of games at all. Some poor challenges in amongst the non-football.

Unimpressed with commentators talking down some of the challenges (particularly in the 1st half). This league could with a firmer hand on the physicality.

I know, I know, its serious!

Worst back-pass you have seen in your life?

Heart does have some very sexy close quarter passing from time to time.

Arsenal-esque. But only in that sense.

I think the most shocking part of this match is that Graham Arnold has actually tactically out-classed someone.

I blame it on the Jabulani

You got it. Didn't need to be involved at the world cup to get the blame.

What happened to Arnolds promise of CCM playing a more open, flowing and exciting brand of football this season?? That looked like same old CCM to me, get ahead and then defend like f**k

Yep, same old rollcall of mediocrities, all industrious, all working hard for each other. Tough to beat but boring as hell.

Perez may give them some extra zip but with that rep and being a mere 25 you've got to wonder why he's not playing for someone better.

Indeed. Their colossial bad form after a decent first half of the season was incredible.

Some nice touches in that game from the Heart, didnt look too flash in the final third though.. Same old cliche, they will take time to gel with some match experience together

I think he was always going to set out to play a compact game against a side everyone thought was going to play quick and sharp football. Heart kept the ball well and pressed high, which kept the ball carrier isolated and CCM from playing more exciting football.

Heart needed to play more balls through the middle in my opinion, and Skoko was far too deep to do that properly. The couple of times they did go at the defence from the top of the area, the Mariners looked a bit shaky. To be honest, I'm not sure where Van Ship't thought the goals would come from.

The more I think about it, this is a game that Van Ship't lost rather than CCM won.

Am sure things will pick up in terms of quality. Wasn't the greatest opening to the season.
