Play him anywhere - just get him in the squad!
I like tautologies because I like them.

Adelaide paper today

"ADELAIDE United is well on its way to hijacking the A-League championship.

It's understood McKain - a stout stopper who can adapt to the holding midfielder's role - has signed a three-year contract to become the latest Socceroo to join Rini Coolen's squad.

Saudi Arabia's Al Nasr Riad released the defender on the weekend.

McKain was initially signed by Al Nasr Riad's coach - former Italian international Walter Zenga - last year before he was axed at Christmas.

Zenga signed Brisbane-born McKain on a free transfer from Wellington Phoenix. The Queensland connection has propelled Adelaide towards the A-League crown favouritism and a lucrative place in the 2013 AFC Champions League.McKain will be the seventh player to be linked to Queensland football and Adelaide United.

He will be welcomed by ex-Gold Coast United pair, striker Bruce Djite and midfielder Zenon Caravella, ex-Brisbane Roar Socceroos attacker Dario Vidosic, ex-Roar utility Spase Dilevski and ex-striker Serginho van Dijk and former Fury player Osama Malik.

McKain is tipped to arrive in Adelaide tomorrow. With McKain, the Reds squad now boasts a strong flavour of internationals.

Coolen has snared four recently active Socceroos (McKain, Vidosic, Eugene Galekovic and Djite), Netherlands attacker Andy Slory, pending Indonesian international van Dijk, and possibly Ukraine international Eugen Levchenko by the close of the current FIFA transfer window next month."

Looks done and dusted

Free transfer from us? I thought they bought McKain from us?

you'd hope it wasnt a free transfer. Maybe in return they put Terry on to WGA?

At the time everyone was saying it was an approximately $1.5m transfer.

In your urge to be negative, you forget that Pantelis, Tsattalios and Downey exist.

You could argue no one else wanted them.

Nobody else wanted Paul Ifill either. What's your point, unless your whole point is to talk yourself into a fit of depression?

Bollocks. He had trials (Brighton and Millwall) and then offers after he had signed with the Phoenix. Scottishbhoy2011-07-23 16:44:48

Not really hard to argue when Pantelis was dropped with a year still left on his contract and Downey + Tsattalios were rotting in the state leagues

Looking at Adelaide fans comments they not only want him removed from the captaincy but the team too!
Maybe his career has gone down hill sine leaving the nix..............

New coach of bottom placed team wants to change things up, not all that surprising. McKain hasn't been there long so making him captain might not have been the greatest idea.

For a bench spot??? Only three teams have better defensive records than us. Our CB pair is one of the best in the league right now and Mckain is clearly struggling. No thanks.

I still don't think calls to pick him up are as bad as the calls to pick up Alsop. But don't want to see Siggy dropped or shifted. The guy is almost our mvp this season.
