Can’t believe we got him. Was my first pick on here way back and presumed he’d rejected us.

Where do I buy my season pass. At last that flipping comfort zone disease which infiltrated the Phoenix - especially some Kiwi players -will be cured.

Remember to let us into your heart
Then you can start to make it better

Hey Rude, don't be afraid
You were made to go out and get her
The minute you let us under your skin
Then you begin to make it better

Rudan's appointment suggests to me that the owners are serious about the club's future. Good!

As Doloras acknowledged elsewhere (thanks, Doloras), I'd speculated about Rudan back in early March, but then assumed he'd turned us down so switched my vote to Rob Sherman. Happy to be proved wrong!

Good choice. It’s a yes from me. I like Rudes, hope I get the job of driving his Rolls Royce.

And I forgot to add, about the same age as Daryl Durante, I’m all for an experienced pair of CB.

You Aussies are so rude and a reckless!

Don't you be so crude and feckless

We've been drinking brew for breakfast

Rudan, can't fail.

I know that the Phoenix make you nervous!

But our strikers get no service!

It's like we ain't playing football for a purpose

Rudan, can't fail.

Same (if work schedule allows). I had seriously been considering switching to a TeeDubs ticket next season, they sign a coach, and I can feel irrational hope seeping back.

It's not the despair that will kill you, it's the hope.

Seems like the time was worth it, looking at how Mark's vision fits with many of the fans'. If he's all for Kiwis, great imports, motivation, commitment and spirit, then I'm all for him!

Great choice

Time however for a complete overall below him as well, new assistants etc.

Think he will be the man to do it as well

I am however concerned that Rob didn't know whom Mark was in 2016. Time to open the purse strings for Mark, find a CEO whom can name 20 coaches in football and leave them to it

He's not the CEO. As he said he employs people who knows this information.

Really excited about Rudan. Pretty much the ideal coach - out of the realistic candidates.
Hopefully all the #NixOut talk will disappear since he's mates with Fox sports.
Does anyone know what his tactical approach will be?
And can we get Rado Vidisic back as assistant? Or Luciano Trani?

Voted for Rudan in a poll a whiles back (think it was when Green Eggs and Ham tenure ended), and very very excited about his appointment. His comments as a Fox commentator were extremely astute - he way outshone his ex-GoalKeep fellow commentator. His attention to detail is amazing. Perth will rue the day they turned him down. When do we buy our season tickets?

It goes without saying that recruitment will be vital as we have been found lacking over the previous two seasons. Piney did mention that Krishna for A league purposes is no longer classed as an import which gives us another import slot

Great news about Krishna then... really looking for him to get busy in the market asap.

The interesting question is does this raise or lower his value? He is now classified as a local vs an import

I think he will be after a real quality CB myself, I get the feeling he likes a hard nosed team and we have been quite brittle there for a while - not forgiving the lack of the midfield, but since Siggy left no one has owned that role in any meaningful way.

Think we are part way there with  Fox hopefully Rudan can take his game to the next level and as you say add another one.Maybe we can get that tightfisted defence we used to have working again.

A bit of the Siggieness? Get stuck in!

Edit: For me our win at Hindmarsh is a great moment, because we got smashed there so often or competed for a while until the last 20 minutes or something. We were always fighting there for anything we got.

Reckon underdog entertainers sums up a lot about the 'Nix of the past.

It was a serious question and that's not a particularly helpful answer. How did Piney explain it? Was it on the news or a press conference? I don't live in NZ and don't always have access to the same media at the same time of day as others.

Sadly just the way these forums work .Only caught the tail end of Piney think it was something to do with him having been with us 5 years.Hopefully someone will answer it in detail for you.

Once someone is a NZ or Aussie citizen, then the A-League no longer sees them as an import.

Therefore an import slot is freed up.

This happened for Adelaide a few years ago when Brazilian Cassio changed nationality.

This is a big moment for Rudan - has a growing reputation as a coach. Do well here and he will get better opportunities moving forward which I am sure he is after... fail and it might take a while to get another shot.

On paper our squad at the start of last season should have walked the top six.

Especially with Vidosic around, he's one of the best players in the league. With just a few things going our way early on last season (squandering of good leads at home, not getting any points from games which we dominated), the entire season could have had a completely different complexion.

Buuuuut, it went the way did, so no point worrying about it. Rudan's about as good as we could have hoped for, very excited to see how he approaches this.

Great summary of last season in my opinion, there was a ton of what-ifs from that first lot of games where we looked really good but couldn't manage to get the results over the line. Once the confidence wilted under that we were toast.

Freudian slip "1/2 a team to bring in"  quickly change to 1/2 a squad.

But good old 442 for the click bait headline Rudan-why I knocked back the jets
