Cities performances droped after Des left, I reckon he had a big say in Kisnorbos success

I can see why Victory fans are feeling a bit dirty about this one. He has the Troyes stint separating him coaching their rivals & their club but given Troyes is part of the City Group, it isn't much of a separation.

Especially after they were relegated winning  2 of 15 games under his leadership.

Despite having a get out of jail free card with 777 partners collapsing, victory still haven't learnt to live within their means. Apparently lost $10 million last season and liabilities now exceed assets by $12 million.

Rumours were that Popa didn't re-sign because he wouldn't accept a wage cut, but I doubt Kisnorbo is a cut price coach or the squad is much cheaper than last season

That didn't go very well last time.

Tbf though, moving from the A-League to Ligue 1, regardless of whether you're a player (e.g. Old) or coach is a massive new step.

For city this might be a chance to get their first win after 6 consecutive derby's without a win

Was just about to suggest Des Buckingham as a replacement - but I see that tweet has beaten me to it!

Victory fans sure to be very angry about this

I mean it’s not great for the league. Having a team as large as them in turmoil, let alone potentially handing Auckland the league (yes I know , a long way to go).

I thought these guys were losing money hand over fist. Good on them for doing it, but how are they affording that?

Best guess would be a shark load of council cash...

Council cash, plus most of Melbs outlying suburbs (like Mitchell Shire) having big ethnic immigrant populations. And for them football is the game, not the Australian Football League (AFL).

The parched land has it's faults, but it's never shy in putting cash and resources into helping it's new arrivals. Guess it's why they keep coming

I was gonna say money laundering but that seems like a reasonable answer too

Wanna know what makes the NT protests so stupid? They organised a Free Palestine protest. Great cause to march for don't get me wrong, but you can't preach about "keeping politics out of sport" when a) That's not possible b) YOU'VE BROUGHT POLITICS INTO SPORTS YOURSELF

Their protest had nothing to do with politics, they're just a bunch of losers scared of a rainbow

I guess it will be a moderately interesting watch when Victory play Wrexham tomorrow night. TVNZ.

Not gonna lie, I totally forgot that Brighton's owner invested in the Victory.

I recently said that the Victory were broke, so my apologies to whomever I tried to argue that with.

That is a blow for Victory. I wonder if continuing to play as long as he did was a good idea. Surely that can't have helped even with the halftime bandage? Obviously i have no medical background, but he really did not look comfortable.

On the flipside it might give Rufs a chance to close the gap on him in the Alex Tobin award.
