Just watching Perth Glory v AC Milan.
Starting line-up:
WATCH ONLINE: Perth Glory - Milan | Futbol TV
Birighitti rather than Sail in goal.
Sutton, Wootton, Kaltak in the back line.
Taggart up front.
Streaming here:
LiveTV / WebPlayer
Predictable shambles from Perth.
Down 5-0 after 31 mimutes.
Total rout coming up....
Why couldn't Milan play a decent A-League side rather than last season's cellar dwellers?

6-0
Rafael Leao scores straight after second half kick-off by a solo run the full length of the half.
How much worse can it get?
Sail starts the second half in goal.
Sutton, Wootton and Kaltak still out there.

7-0 after 60 minutes.
Classy goal that Sail couldn't do much about.
He's made a couple of good saves this half.

I know it's against AC Milan, so the Glory were never going to trouble them...

But I wonder if Sutts and Woots are having second thoughts all of a sudden?

Perth lose 9 - 0. Against a great opposition but they have a lot of work to do again this season

A small positive out of the drubbing. New Zealand U17 defender Max Argent (RB/CB) got on the pitch for Perth in the final 10 or so minutes.

They knew what they were signing up for... and it wasn't league titles.

It was a move for a change of scene for Sutton and to take a multi-year offer for Wootton - but I think they would have been realistic about how competitive Perth will be (i.e. not very).

I dunno- Wootton, Kaltak, Taggart, Sutton, (Risdon?)…. suggests an ambition to make the finals series at the least.

Using 3 of your visa slots on an aging Wootton, the injury prone Sutton and "tits for hands" Sail doesn't seem overly ambitious to me.

Especially when you've just seen that Sutton and Wootton are happy to down tools and mail in half a season of performances when it suits them.

Didn't they both say in their announcement pressers that they wanted to go somewhere to win/challenge for the top? 😆 (Something along those lines anyway) Seemed odd that they'd both pretty much forgotten about the 23/24 campaign in such a short space of time, but it is what it is.

Fair that they took the money/contract security on offer as well, but looking at their squad composition and having 3/5 visa slots occupied by defenders, it just seems overly heavy, even if they needed heavy reinforcement considering they're an absolute shambles at the back... Griffiths and co have got a very serious workload ahead of them.

Sail has an Aussie passport. Kaltak still a visa player?

But yeah you suspect the Nix did the right thing only offering Wootton a 1 year deal, avoiding another potential David Ball situation. BK (about to be 32) may also now be a bit past his best.

Wootton and Kaltak are both on multi year deals. Both are north of 30.

McGarry started for the Roar. Understandably no Salas as yet.

Do you have a similar one for the AFC starting line up?

Was amusing seeing some blue muppets on Twitter absolutely wetting the bed over this game.

Interesting to see Gillion and Randall replacing Rogerson as the prime goal scorers, based on the first couple of hit outs.

03 Aug 10:27
Nice to see Gillion scoring a few so far.

He did well last pre-season as well. It is an important season for him, off contract after this season & needs to prove he can have an impact at this level to get a new deal.

Glory advertised a pre-season match but pulled out right at the last moment. So everyone turned up for absolutely nothing. Great way to win back the fans ...

Guess no one bothered to check out the pitch ahead of time.

I'm guessing the Nix men are flying out today, to play Sydney tomorrow. Good luck boys.

Part of the Australian government's attempts to counter Chinese influence in the Pacidic is spending millions on increased sporting engagement across the islands. Football is definitely benefiting from this.

Is there any indication where and when the game is tonight?
Presumably, given lack of info (that I have found), it is a closed-door affair. Would be nice to get updates and an objective insight on how we played.

I know, I know, its serious!
