Good for the league, but sad sad sad for GCU. I mean, he's walking all over them, once again.

I'd be great if Smeltz had decided he's not good enough for Europe and came back next year. I'd give him a Marquee spot.

Baird signing great news. I was worried it might be a player. Fifteen minutes before his first dive. Hope we get a ref who knows him is all.

im not sure that he is worth a marquee spot...couldnt hack it in china, not getting much game time in Turkey..maybe needs to fight for his place rather than swapping clubs

If I was in Turkey or China I wouldn't offer him a marquee spot, in the A-League?  Hell yes.

Yet kills in the A league, would gladly give him ours if it means we are going to have someone scoring consistently.

Got a release apparently. http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/football/4526386/Shane-Smeltz-back-with-Gold-Coast-United

Management change in Turkey pretty much signaled no more time for him thus released. Football politics.

Their visa spots look to be used up for next season, wonder if they will be after North or Topor-Stanley to replace him.

Wouldn't be surprised if Smeltz went to Adelaide

Would mean they would have to change their system to have both him and SvD. I think Sydney will throw money at him, they need a good striker.

- Osama Malik gets an early transfer to Adelaide
- Travis Dodd set to sign for Perth for 3 years
- Cornthwaite could head to China
- Hutchinson to Indonesia
- Gold Coast trying to sign Reid and Hughes from Adelaide
- McBreen to Perth
- Trent Sainsbury to Sheffield United
- Kwasnik, Wee Mac, Zwaanswijk and Wilkinson (who almost went to Sydney) re-sign with Mariners

Mariners young fullback.

I thought that was Marc Warren who went to Sheffield United unless they both did.

When does Fyfe leave?  Is he going to play a few more games before he goes?

Yeah, actually, you're correct LG.

Fyfe goes now I believe. Which is why Osama Malik has joined the Reds earlier.

DeVere off to South Korea apparently. Looks like if your an Aussie centre back, you can write your own cheque next season in the A-League.

A bit of goss:

Sydney are f**ked for next season, Brosque is off to the J-League while they are trying to sign Jamie Coyne and North to fix their defence.

Also, chasing Hughes and David Williams.

Perth want to swap Sterjovski for Smeltz, wich would have to be about the most lopsided swap in footballing history. And there were whispers of a Carle/Culina swap but that's unlikely.

Heard all of this too.

Wonder where all the new CBs are gonna come from? This kiwi lad from the nike trials would be an interesting look in for someone perhaps?

To say Sydney will be f..... is a slight exaggeration. One player does not make a team.
Brosque was offered $1.5 million to play in the J league.
I don't blame him for wanting to go.

Sure one player doesn't make a team but I wouldn't call their current rabble a team to start with so personally I think they're in trouble.  I hope North stays put.

I'd prefer him winning a place in the Nike academy and a subsequent EPL contract.

I love all the Aussie rage against Milicevic who called himself 100% Croatian and not Australian.  They're calling him racist and all sorts.  I watched the interview and could see Ljubo's point entirely.  Hope he does well in Europe.
