Jeffers is a nasty little man.  The further from this league he stays the better for all parties.

Necessity is the mother of all invention, and this is a good one.

Good luck to Melbourne Heart on this one.

Maybe he could perform for them, I don't know, but whenever I see things like this I get slightly exasperated.

Pretty sure it's far more of a marketing decision than football decision. Necessary evil given the state of the sport.

I doubt they'd even make a profit from it, though, if the $100 000 per game fee demand is to be believed.

I say we bring Alfredo di Stefano out of retirement and George Best out of the grave for the Phoenix.  Just as guest stints, of course.

I'm thinking it's more of a long-term thing - get the public in for a couple matches then use this as an opportunity to promote to them, with the hope that they enter the public consciousness then come back after Ronaldo's gone. Make the locals know you exists so you can enter their consideration.

I'm of the opinion that if you need a star name to draw fans in those fans wont last the distance anyway

We don't support the nix because we have star players but because we feel a connection to the clubvaleo2010-09-11 19:20:04

I'd be very jealous of the Heart if they snared Ronaldo.
You know we belong together...

That would be a huge coup, but I just can't see it happening. He'd easily be the most talented and skilled player in the league and would draw huge crowds wherever he went. Ronaldo playing against the Phoenix would make me take a weekend off work and come up from Nelson.

We should be looking Fury's way for some full backs. Hingert has looked decent and possibly still a youth player for next season. And Andr Kilian at LB is very good.

I feel sorry for the Fury & their fans, its horrible situation the FFA has put them in.

Good on the lad. He's a great player. Wish he went to Dortmund though as that's what I first though when I read the title. But no way you can complain about going to the Bundesliga.

Also I rate Kilian and I'd have him if we could get him!

NEWCASTLE Jets today announced the appointment of two former Socceroos and an All Whites coach as key onfield staff to support coach Branko Cullina and his squad.

Gosling back to Newcastle. I presume that was expected here was it?

I see that former England player Francis Jeffers is having a trial with the Jets.

Justin Pasfield signed with CCM for next season and beyond. That is kind of old.

Fury sign Lorenzo Sipi for rest of this season.
Mitch Nichols poised to re-sign for two more years at Brisbane and Archie signs for 3 more years at Victory.

He was a guest on Fox sports yesterday and said he had mentioned this when he was back in the UK, but it was a thing for the future and he had no intention of leaving Perth.

I've changed my mind about Jeffers.  He's been great for Newcastle and it would be good, from their perspective, if they could keep him on.

ADELAIDE United have signed Uruguayan midfielder Francisco Uscar to boost their playing stocks as they enter the final leg of their title-chasing campaign.

If he is any where near as good as Flores, we might be in for a treat.
