Was wondering about Harold just the other day. Unfortunately that's one of your classic Mariners signings, ie, a dead average player who wont add a great deal to the squad.

ROD left out of the squad tonight cuz he is talking to clubs ahead of a deadline day move. Jets, Sydney and Western are the only ones with Visa spots available. Could we see a Berisha/ROD team up?

Glory is positively bristling with signings ahead of the business end of the season.

Nope we already have a slow, unfit, expensive striker in hooper and we love him! We don't need another one ??

ROD is still a visa, so either Ledley qualifies for a guest contract or they are gonna have to cut a visa player (probably Matty?)

BBC reporting that Ledley is gonna sign for the Jets. Matty might be getting called into the office and told the bad news this morning.

He is a great sub player but in the past has never impressed me as a starter. Our final game vs the Jets is looking much harder now

Clubs are proposing that only domestic players contribute to the salary cap. CCM are wanting to sell their foreign spots to other clubs because they still plan to spend the minimum.

They do something similar in the MLS. No idea about any other leagues.

Central Coast Mariners are one of the clubs spending only the salary floor this season and have four foreign players on their books. Should rules be introduced requiring the salary cap floor be restricted to locals with foreigners exempted, it's highly unlikely they would be able to sign many foreign players next season.

Sources involved in the discussion told the Sydney Morning Herald the Mariners had requested they be able to sell visa-player spots to other clubs should the proposed changes be adopted.

As part of their suggestions, by selling a limited amount of foreign spots, clubs could open up another revenue stream to improve their competitiveness, while also ensuring there is no overall reduction on Australian players in the A-League.

Well if both Steinman & Hooper want to stay (seems some prospect of that now, esp Matti), and are re-signed all 5 visa spots re gone for next season.

Personally however I wouldn't like the Nix having more than 5 visa players, being the only pro football club in NZ.

However might open up more playing opportunities for Kiwis, with other A League clubs, if CCM sell a visa spot or two relatively cheaply.

Victory were the same with Rojas, hopefully Ridenton is playing hard ball because he could be out of a job for awhile.
