I think this is a huge step for the league - getting a guy like him automatically gets people taking notice of the footballl beyond traditional media outlets.

Less hectic playing schedule should help him too.  He managed 90 games in three seasons at Galatasaray - he didn't have any major issues, just the niggling stuff that guys his age alwasy have.

Meanwhile, Gold Coast United have completed their recruitment for the new season by signing journeyman striker Dylan Macallister to fill the role of target man left vacant by the departure of Shane Smeltz to Perth Glory.

Macallister, 29, has just finished a short-term stint with Icelandic champions Breidablik, and has agreed to a one-year deal to return to the A-League. The former Australian youth international had a long career in Norway before spells with Central Coast Mariners and Wellington Phoenix.

The whole Kewell saga is typical of his manager, Bernie Mandic, has screwed football fans in Australia for years yet the FFA seem to bend over and take it for some reason.

Time for the FFA to grow some and tell Mr Mandic to go fark himself!!!

DId ok in his cameo reading that

"Young talents, Hagi Gligor Caleb Rufer, Anthony Proia and Yianni Perkatis came on to get some game time and a chance to impress Lavicka.

Rufer was one who managed to do that, with the striker teaming up with Cazarine to cause havoc in the St George defence with two minutes remaining. He managed to win a penalty and never looked like missing as he stepped up to convert it and give the Sky Blues their third."

Sayed Adnan signed with the Roar (stole the news from Dunners game thread). I wonder if he knows that he'll be playing at the ring of Fire again.

Its no longer a problem.

Interesting signing for Brisbane Roar as reported from Burnley fansite, ClaretsMad, - Besart Berisha.

Berisha scored for Albania against England B at Turf Moor so was promptly signed by Burnley. That was to be not only his only goal at Turf Moor, but his only appearance! He never made a first team start in his two years at Burnley, initially suffering a major injury, and then just not measuring up.

It will be interesting to see how he goes in this neck of the woods. As an aside, Eugene Dadi was a failed triallist at Burnley, so who knows.

I know, I know, its serious!

I found it interesting that the guy is only 26, thought he would of had other options in Europe? Feel the same about Mehemet. Suppose they just wants a change, and N.Z and Aus are the lifestyle super powers of the world, eh, why not.

We will never fully decide who has won the football.

It's most likely that Rojas will play with Kewell and Cernak will get left on the bench

Even though Kewell is a bit of a money grubbing c**t you can't deny this is amazing for the league

Pretty obvious Kewell would've had big money offers from the Middle East etc - if Neill and Bresciano can get multi million dollar deals there, he certainly can.valeo2011-08-20 18:02:26

You are saying he put his country before the money??
Or that his deal in A League is multi million as well ??

I imagine it is big in Aussie

Was front page on the herald sun and the age for what its worth.

Either way, Melbourne have a ridiculous attacking line up this season. They've gone from the team with 100 DM's to a team that hopes to win games 7-6.

[QUOTE=Hard News] Good news for Melbourne Physios.

Wouldn't be surprised if he lasted the whole season - if Ifill can do it..

Don't know what shape he is in now, but the last time I saw him play (a few months ago) he looked as good as I've seen him in years.

How are Victory going to get all their attacking talent into a cohesive starting lineup

Thompson
Allsopp
Solorzano
Kewell
Hernandez
Rojas

Could also add Cernak. I reckon a cheeky call to Victory to see if we can loan Rojas or Hernandez for the season.

So.. He is filling their second marquee spot which can be designated for Australian players if the club already has a foreign marquee player, right?

Very classy signing, look forward to seeing him play! Azevo2011-08-25 11:18:27

According to various sources he has already signed, doubt there will be a fee going to Rovers for him.

Seems to be a lot of 'ifs', 'buts', 'according' etc.

He's coming down to Australia sometime soon, match between them and Thailand to qualify for the world cup.Azevo2011-08-25 14:24:25
