... for a one game stint. Apparently Milan want $2m and Sydney's executive board are considering it. Anyone heard anything further?

$2m for one game? That's insane.
Though actually not a bad option to consider. Bring beckhams team for $$ and play them in a friendly,or bring beckham on loan for a game and help him get you a win, with the same sold out crowd.

Board must have more money than sense if they go with it

My mate saw it in the Sydney Morning Herald and yeah there was an article on 442 somewhere as well.

I saw it on 442's forum
Must be true then
Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Well... it's purely marketing isn't it. But why not, while the a-league is about football, there wont be a league without the fans dollars.
I think if we were honest, if we had a big name like that play 1 or 2 games for the nix, there might just be a few thousand more people thru the turnstiles

If the nix signed him I honestly think we could get 22,000 to watch. It would be huge.Think of all the "hero" jerseys you could sell as well. But it is a very weird concept. If I was Sydney I'd rather spend $2million on a couple of very good players who they can keep for the whole season.

Sydney rejected the offer though...
"Lugt confirmed that Brazilian superstar Ronaldinho's representatives had offered the star to Sydney FC for a one-game contract with $3m the asking fee. Lugt said the club had rejected the idea."

$3m for one game, doesn't matter how good you qare, noone is worth $3m a game.

Well yes I see what you mean, however if the stunt were to bring in more than $3m in added gate receipts, hero shirts, advertising, exposure etc. (in no way am I suggesting that Ronaldinho would), you would have to think in that way, actually he is worth it. It did cost us $2m to bring what was essentially David Beckham to Wellington, for one game.
But an ridiculous amount of money I agree.

Ludicrous. If they'd gone with it I would have flown over to Sydney (at my own expense) and slapped each of those responsible several times each.

What they should do is pay $3million to play against Milan.

way too pricey but definitely would attract heaps of fans
