Should have been a red.

Havent't seen the game or the clip but in the last year FIFA have said this is a yellow. Contact on the boot (I.e very low height wise) coming down with a chance to play the ball. I'm going to assume yellow was shown and if so, this is what is instructed.

Yep, he ended up with a yellow.

Never ceases to amaze me that coaches do not have players on the post. Look around the world and there  are heaps of goals scored because of this.

You do know that if the players aren't on the post they don't just disappear, don't you? They can go and mark other players etc etc

And players standing on the post put everyone onside until they step up. If you want an offside trap to help prevent scrappy goals off flick-ons or knock-downs it's easier if you don't start the play with two defenders on your goal line

I'm talking about corners too. Obviously you can't be offside off the corner itself but the moment another player touches the ball then the offside comes into play. If you have guys on the post then a striker standing in the 6 yard box can get onto a flick-on or knock-down and tap it in. If you don't have guys on the post then that danger doesn't exist - or at least is significantly mitigated.

How many times do you see goals scored from corners that would have been cleared if there we players on the post.

As for Patrick's comment----------- Pretty ridiculous remark.

Of course they could mark other players in the penalty area, but if there is no one on the post and an attacker/defender gets a head to it and it goes in the goal on either post( which it does on a regular basis) then the posts should be defended.

I have discussed this with players and national coaches and most agree. However, it is an opinion.

One of the best games so far. Both teams prepared to attack so making an exciting game. Played on a good pitch for a change,

Think the Nix is going to find both these teams difficult as they both have pace up front and that is where we are going to struggle.

Its nice to see some open, flowing football. Both teams want to play, unlike some other teams in the league atm

surprisingly, many top teams dont put players on the post. I just dont the alternative stacks up at all.

I would imagine the other nine teams don't bother with players on the post when we take corners.

Last night we conceded a goal which an offside trap on the corner might have stopped, but Sarpong cleared one off the line later when he was on the post, so I guess for us it was even
