Seems we don't have a thread for him.

TIL that he also coaches our Academy Men's u17s side.

This just got posted to FB in the Eastern Suburbs page - Wootton not sticking around past seasons end?

If he is on the move it will be sad to see him go. I think he has been great at the back for us and his experience will be hard to replace.

Hopefully he's building a house and waiting for its completion!

Might have family coming over??

Given how his career has risen from the Ashes in NZ, he’d be a fool to leave Wellington now. Even a move to Auckland or Australia could backfire.

Woots and Sutts confirmed as leaving.

Pretty pissed off with the way this has been handled. Its been common knowledge they were going why the FK wernt the fans given a chance to say goodbye.
Then again maybe the club had an idea things were going to turn to shark and didnt want to risk it.

It's hard to say what was actually know or not, turns out the rumour they are off is true, at this stage we all think it's Perth. But until the contract is signed then who really knows. Maybe the Nix were aware there was an offer on the table and they were trying to negotiate keeping Sutts and Wootten - in which case announcing they were leaving is premature.

100%.

Should have happened at the last game. I was confused why not. It seemed like the club treated it like potential negative press. The only valid reason would be if the club were still trying to retain either or both. But there's no way this was the case.

In the end, it has just come across as a little defensive and showed a lack of respect for the players.

The Ball situation was the nail in the coffin for Wootton. Club was not retaining him after that debacle.

That has a ring of truth to it.

While it's entirely possible that Wootton wasn't impressed by how the Ball situation played out, you wouldn't think Perth Glory would be a go-to destination for anybody worried about aging players being thrust into a pseudo-retirement against their wishes...

Aren't the Glory currently being sued by Mustafa Amini for a much worse version of this very same thing?

Feel free to doubt it, but it's what I was told months ago (the time the rumours first surfaced) by someone who has no reason to make it up.

Perth also has direct flights to Europe/UK.
A long flight indeed but I can definitely see the appeal!

Would suggest a 3 year contract wins over all the other reasons if that is what he got. Would doubt if the Nix wanted to offer any more than 1.

If he's missing being surrounded by northern English accents, then Perth will be perfect for him. Poms make up 10% of the popn in WA. Would you rather be a painter in Hull, or a place with over 300 days of sunshine. Sort of a no brainer.
