I see Babbel has jumped onto the 3-4-3 bandwagon for tonight's game.

Would be good if WSW could take some points off Adelaide here

Permalink Permalink

They aren't going to get a lot of encouragement to do that from a crowd this small.

Come on Wanderers!

Vinniesta!! 0-1

Vinnie, what are you doing!? Should be Row Z.

No drinks break? You'd think that would be a must at 31 degrees. There are going to be some tired bodies out there in the 2nd half.

is this on a sky pop up channel ?

Permalink Permalink

Vinnie punished for a classic clumsy foul. Roly makes him pay, superbly.

Permalink Permalink

Vinnie guilty of a free kick at the edge, and Roly takes a technically spotless free kick to equalise for WSW at the start of the second half.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

Yeah, Channel 59

Roly with a free kick levels things up, 1-1

Vinnie fouls Roly in WSW half, gets a yellow card for his trouble

Never a dull moment from him tonight!

Goodwin restores the lead, 1-2

The magnificent stadium looks way more empty that the RoF.

Ooooh, hint of offside in the build up to the goal and the VAR didn't check it.

Permalink Permalink

Slack defending. Was inevitable Goodwin would score from the moment they made a big deal about him never having scored against WSW in 13 previous games.

Another dubious call from the VAR - it did look from every angle that Strain (Adelaide #4) fouled WSW man in the penalty area.

NB. It's either a very warm night making it hard for both teams to play, and for spectators to turn up for, or it really is a dreadful game on its own merit and we're gonna smash both of these teams next time.

Barely cracked 7k their last two home matches. Be interesting to see how many there tonight.

WSW under Babel are a pale shadow of what WSW were under Poppa.  Six or seven games lost now. And now Perth are showing that Poppa magic touch, too.

And a word on Adelaide too: I keep waiting for their bubble to burst but they continue to punch above their weight, thanks to Kurz who is a terrific coach. If you had told me at the start of the season that a team without a striker and featuring a host of mediocrities would be so high in the table I would've scoffed, but Kurz has got them extremely well organised and is getting the very best out of his few real talents like Isias and Goodwin.

Great game for the ex- nix spotters.

Wana finish above both these teams on the table

Mossy back between the sticks for the jets today & Ridenton retains his starting spot. Champness makes an appearance on the bench

And Tratt has pulled up lame, puts him in doubt for the Welly game midweek.

Nice save by Mossy from an audacious chip from Le Fondre. What an excellent player LF is.

And an oggie puts Sydney ahead, 1-0

Boogaard kind of showing his age there.

Good game this. Jets spurned some great early chances (story of their season) and Sydney work their way into it and finished the half on top.

What a load of crap. He is 32 and was just unlucky.

If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid

They've had some chances but to be honest they have the look of a team that knows their season is just about done already.

Hoffman thought he'd been fouled, was on the ground, as the Sydney player walked around him he put his knees up and tripped him. No studs, no intent to injure, just a clumsy but intentional trip. Very harsh imo.

fairly uneventful 0-0 draw in Melbourne in the second game.

6k is an abysmal attendance for a fine summer's evening in Melbourne against the top team.
