This could be the first game this season decided by more than 1 goal, Sydney look way too strong. I reckon Sydney 3-0.

ALF should have scored in the first 20 seconds but his lob of Moss goes just wide.

Matt Millar levels things up after finding himself with a free header in the box, 1-1

Really open game with loads of chances bit it doesn't fell like a high quality game.

Hoffman with a shocker, should have scored.
To this very day it still hurts that he once scored two against us.

Thoughts on that Ridenton tackle? I'm really surprised he didn't get at least a yellow, the studs were up and that is a big no no.

Fully expected a yellow, would not have been surprised if red. Thankfully common sense prevailed imo.
Grant is absolutely tearing them apart down that side. A couple of poor crosses aside he's been phenomenally good.

on the other hand, Newcastle are hopeless. I think Ernie is a busted flush

kosta gets off the mark. While Mossy's leg injury/slip helps him get by.
I have an amazing ability to find my way out of mazes. I'm pathological.

They've defended very badly. At the other end all the meaningful chances are falling to Hoffman instead of Arroyo who has been largely a spectator the whole game.

You know a team's got an embarrassment of riches when it can sub off two of its best players with 20 to go.

Hoffman spurns another chance. Jets fans must be gnashing their teeth.

Sydney very strong, and Newcastle are poor! Watched this game in particular to see how Ridenton and Moss were getting on. Ridenton looks worse for the Jets than he did for us, first half did literally nothing except run across the pitch receive the ball from his defender a couple of times and pass it straight back. No forward play from him at all, even when he was pushed higher up the pitch and began taking corners - he'll be the jets scapegoat this year.
Queenslander 3x a year.

Maybe that's a little hard on him. Agree he wasn't good at all but that needs to be seen in the context of a very poor team performance all round. It's confusing that Ernie persists in pushing him higher because he just doesn't have the ability to unlock a defence or any real scoring potential. He doesn't have quick footwork or a tight turning circle, so 2nd half especially he repeatedly lost possession under pressure.
Defensively he is OK but when the likes of a rampant Sydney are ripping you to pieces no one is going to shine.
Ernie has problems with his squad that's for sure. For a start what Hoffman is doing leading the line is beyond me.

I have seen him play really well as attacking mid. He does have the ability.

Between the football and McBreen's tedious wittering I am very nearly asleep.

Better than Ola's too. That's what true class can bring to a team. Singlehandedly brought them right back into the game.
