Season Draw 2019/20

For fudge's sake! Would have to be those whining pricks. If it was any other club it would simply be a case of 'tough luck - deal with it!'
Does everyone play everyone three times?

cirque du FFA
"Credible Sporting Fairness"? Well you wont find that in Australia.
Does everyone play everyone three times?
You are right. I'd dump the finals crap. Expand the season length by playing each other 4 times. 2 home and 2 away. More games. Top 3 teams to play in the Champions League. Run the Mickey Mouse through the season and finish the season with the Final.
Don't think dumping the finals is gonna happen anytime soon when 50k turn up to a Grand Final in Perth. THose games are a massive drawcard and aren't gonna go anywhere.
it's almost like having a league with 11 teams is a fudgeing stupid idea
I feel for Perth Glory for having a great season and getting beaten in the GF. It must have been deflating for them, especially after seeing Poppa do an amazing job with them since arriving in Perth. Yet I am sure if you asked their fans, they would likely not want the GF scrapped, such is the importance of the finals by now. If the GF was scrapped, half of the country would have switched off halfway through the season as nobody could catch Perth anymore.
Does everyone play everyone three times?
Hard to describe that as anything other than Mickey Mouse. On the other hand it could help us given the Melbourne teams are all likely to play each other three times and same with Sydney teams meaning we are I guess more likely to get 3 games against Jets, Roar and Mariners.

Don't be stupid, this is an FFA competition.
An uneven draw in Australian sport is not unique to football. Happens likewise in AFL and NRL. Codes that also have finals. Similar effectively to most American sports with East and West conferences.
Not saying it’s right but both these countries have highly competitive sports markets. Unlike say Europe where football is untouchable.
A focus on derbies, uneven draws, finals, unfriendly kick off times are as much a symptom of football having to fiercely compete for public attention and TV revenue as anything. Though a 11 team comp seems dumb, and hopefully when SW Sydney enters the A League goes back to an even draw.
its just the way the aussies like things, grand finals get big audiences which mean big money, the only way it changes is when the FFA is gone and the clubs change the structuire.

Even then, if a club has a chance to get 50,000 through the gates for a Grand Final and keep the proceeds once the FFA is gone, why would your turn away from such an opportunity? You're not gonna get 50,000 to a regular season game.
In addition, Fox pay the significant portion of the costs of the league, they want the finals as the ratings tend to be the best for finals games, they're not going to turn around and say, 'yep, we'll keep giving you $58m a year, and we're also happy for you to remove the 4-5 games that garner best rating for us off the schedule'.
Western United may play 2 games in Tasmania!
Wellington Phoenix coach Mark Rudan has condemned the club's decision to take a home game to Australia after the controversial move to Campbelltown Stadium backfired on Saturday night.
"I don't think the club thought or had the confidence that we would have the season that we are having, at the start of the season when they made the decision," Rudan said.

Oh dear.
UPDATED 1 HOUR AGOShare on Twitter
The clubs have been told the draw is still at least a week away from being finalised, with A-League chiefs to hold another round of talks with them this week, News Corp reports.
Channel 10 has been the free-to-air (FTA) broadcaster for the previous two seasons, as part of a deal with Fox Sports, but having posted terrible ratings they are still to agree to stay on board this season.
Competition bosses are still hopeful of attracting a new FTA broadcaster by attempting to spread the marquee fixtures between them and Fox and with the dawn of the new independent A-League run by the clubs, due to take effect August 1.
Meanwhile, clashes with other codes are causing issues venues like the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) and Marvel Stadium in Melbourne.
Western United's addition to the competition this season has created several headaches for those putting the draw together with the league to have an uneven number of teams until fellow expansion club Macarthur United join in the 2020/21 campaign.
This will mean each club plays a reduced 26 home and away games across 29 rounds, resulting in three byes for each side across the season, with the aim to give those clubs playing in the Asian Champions League byes in the weeks they play ACL.
Also, instead of every team playing each other three times as they currently do, each side will face off at least twice with the third opponent match-ups determined according to a weighting system that will likely mean popular derbies or marquee match-ups will be on the cards.
- A-League 2020 Grand Final – weekend of 16/17 May 2020
Opponent Match-up Weightings – Methodology
- Due to the uneven number of Rounds for Season 2019/20 (e.g. 29 Rounds / 26 matches per Club), each Club will play a minimum of two matches against each other Club.
- Select “third” opponent match-ups will be determined according to agreed methodology.
- Priority 3: Maximise A-League attendance metrics and other commercial priorities
What a fudgeing embarrassing joke they have made of this. They should either have held West Melbourne back a year (Would have allowed their stadium build to start and progress by the way) or helped MacArthur out and started them this season. Keeping the numbers even.

What happens with 12 teams? Will there only be two rounds, or three? Or will it be the same issue with two full rounds of 22 games then a stupid system to make up the remaining games just like this season?

The uneven draw is here to stay.
Since we have such a long "off season", I'd suggest we play each team 3 times, giving us 33 games.

Fudge that. The off season is the best part!
Supposedly a draft of the season draw posted on 442. Considering AWs play on the 14th and 17th of Nov. Our bye round should be, what looks like, round 6 - which hopefully is the case but looks unlikely if we also have a bye in round 2.
