It really seems like Zawadas streak started we changed the strategy to just hoofing it to him.

Last week us scoring 2 gave me a burst of hope that others will start scoring... Last night gave a really string feeling that teams have figured that out.

Trying to stay optimistic but.... Damn.

just y take on it mind, but I wouldn't expect someone who has landed his Europe gig or decided on a move to Aussie to even be thinking about what future emplyers might be thinking.

When Chief was announced as coach Ufuk said he didn't have any job. My reading of the situation based on interviews with Dome and Gilly is that the team forced him to chose his ambition over job security by saying they would not wait for him to make a decision and would announce their coach for next season before the end of this season (and unlike NZF when they said they'd make a decision about a coach they followed through).

If they left it he might have realised the options weren't out there and re-signed, but they didn't want to take that risk.

I reckon he's waiting on the victory job.. Surely Popovic gets sacked.

Victory is invariably coaches' graveyard, whether they win or lose

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

He's said he has had no contact with Victory (when asked) and has also said his ambition is overseas. He might end up at Victory, but unless you think he's liar he's not waiting for it.
28 Apr 23:34
Liar? With employment questions most, if not all, will not tell the truth if asked such a question and the actual truth is yes. We had it with Rudan where everyone went ballistic because he lied about leaving. Admittedly he did probably do some underhand poaching which was a dog act. I certainly take coach’s answers to such questions with a grain of salt, I wouldn’t expect them to say yes at all.

'No contact with Victory' was before it was officially announced that he was leaving the Nix, so things definitely could have changed. I have no doubt he's definitely wanting an overseas gig, but like he said, "he needs a job".

Keep up seems to have stopped playing post match interviews on their youtube channel which is a shame, there hasn't been any thing for the last few rounds.

Oh, they're on the keep up website now, not youtube.

So, Popovic to stay on at Victory.

Hmm his options in the A-League are quite limited now as a few clubs have resigned theirs and signed other managers. The only clubs I could see changing managers for next season would be Jets and Western? Maybe Sydney will sack Coirca if they lose embarrassingly to WSW? Might be a case that if he can't find a job overseas he's gonna have to wait for an A-League club to a sack manager mid-season next season.

Imagine sacking a coach that got you into finals and exceeded anyone's expectations of you this season. Surely Sydney aren't that silly.

With Ross Aloisi getting the Roar gig, Kevin Muscat needs a new assistant at Yokohama F. Marinos.

Or maybe Uffie's mentor, Ange Post can get him on the staff at Celtic. His first gig overseas doesn't have to be a head coach one.

He could go for the vacant assistant role at Wellington Phoenix.

Hopefully this stops the opinion that some people have that Mark Rudan represents every single coach and they're all deceitful snakes. Ufuk seems to be true to his word, he's looking overseas.

Thanks for everything Uffie!

The pounamu suited you well. I hope the squad gets to celebrate your tenure, perhaps drive you around Cuba St in a golf cart after sampling a variety of the city’s brews….you’ve accustomed us to our imports being of a high quality and among the top few in the league in their position. It’s been a while since we had trialist like Maceo Rigters!

We’ll remember the glorious unbeaten runs and the entertainers, as well as the stubborn warriors like David Ball (who seemed to get kicked more than most teams with mixed sympathy and I still hold grudges against players like Jurman who forearmed him in the back of the head without sanction) and the moments when we were on song and the ball zinged around from foot to foot like a comet, each player instinctively knowing where the other was or would be. This was something new and blissful for Wellington.

Though we didn’t get the atmosphere of a home final we did get the huge crowd when we crushed Western at home. Great day. Emphatic stuff.

Please don’t come back to coach the Auckland side and win with them in their first year. That would be a nightmare.

Hope to see you back, instead, for the party when Chiefy brings us home finals and some titles.

Good luck on your travels and your next step!

.... but if you run out of options, I'd rather you coach Auckland than Sydney FC....

i doubt celtic would be interested, but joining Ange as an assistant at Spurs would be a good move.

Interesting looking at how the Celtic fans are taking losing Ange, they're not complaining they know they're a stepping stone for managers and players, they're happy they had the success they had and they're excited for the person to come next.

King Cod Kevin Muscat might apply for the Celtic job. After getting sacked in Belgium he's done well replacing Ange Post at Yokohama Marinos.

J1 League runners-up 2021 (half a season), winners 2022 & currently 2nd this season.

He had a season with Rangers as a player in 2002/03. So a logical pick for the Hoops! From his Wiki page -
It was speculated that Muscat's temperament was the reason he was never selected for inclusion in an Old Firm derby during his time at Rangers

Can’t last for long behaving like a pork chop in Japan. (Well, unless… See Olympig etc. ) But he must have learned a fair amount of control or he would never have held respect amongst his players and in the league.

Wouldn't playing for Rangers be a bar to getting the Celtic job?

A massive hun, doubt it. Completely illogical pick and wouldn’t fly with any of their support.

Better chance of winning the lottery twice over than Celtic going for Talay.

Victory were keen to move coach Tony Popovic on at the end of last season, with Ufuk Talay on standby for the role, until the board baulked at the size of the contract payout required to make the change.

Talay has now been lined up by the expansion entity Canberra for the 2024-2025 season.

Called it 6 months ago - only one place he wanted to coach

He has wanted the Sydney FC job since he stopped playing so can see him in for Corica - maybe we could swap coaches?
Where do you get that information from? All he's ever said is he's ambitious and wants to coach overseas but before then he wants to stay at one club and build his career.  I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up at an Australian club but that's only if he can't find an opportunity overseas and because the club has forced his hand by not waiting for him to find that opportunity.

Thank god we didn’t do a swap though.

complete bs.

He wanted to coach in a bigger league, but didn't do enough at the nix to get there.

No way he left on the off chance that Sydney would sack Corrica and if the Sydney board wanted him instead of Corrica then they would have done something in the off season.

It's pure coincidence that he ended up there.

We Go Again | A-Leagues All Access | Season 2 Episode 7

Focuses on Uffy during the derby. Any thoughts?

I personally don't love that all coaches seem to say FUCK after ever 3rd word. Like what is the point of it? Why do it? I'm sure there is a reason but it seems silly to me, kinda like saying 'like' all the time when you speak - sounds stupid.

Would be better if these episodes were still 20 odd minutes long rather than 6. Not sure what the point is anymore really since they don't capture much behind the scenes stuff anymore apart from team talks.
