Great that the Nix management have announced the appointment so soon after the end of the season. I hope this might sway Williams and Krishna to stay and that Ufuk can bring some talented players across the Ditch with him. Welcome Ufuk, you're going to love Wellington...

Hopefully a marquee or two as well. Would be great to see a player on a simillar level to Toivonen and Honda.

While I'd love that to be the case, I doubt we have the money for someone on that level.

I can see a notepad and a stop watch on the press picture. Means hopefully less powerpoint and emotional words, good signs.

Do we have a Turkey community in Wellington he can activate?

Kudos to the club on announcing it so soon. Hopefully gives him plenty of time to get those we want retained, nailed down to new deals.

And even happier to hear he is Marks best mate

Surely he won't poach our best players from his best mate

I couldn't be happier about this appointment. Things I wanted to see were a young, hungry coach with playing experience at A League level and coaching experience around it, a quick appointment and someone cut from the same cloth as Rudan. Check to all.

Very exciting stuff, can't wait for Sydney's season to end so he becomes our coach.

Now to hang on to Williams, Krishna, Burgess and - can I be ambitious here - Kurto.

Nix, Leyton Orient and Alloa Athletic supporting schmuck.

You can try be ambitious but unfortunately it won't help. He's signed a contract and will be on a plane to Geelong house-hunting very shortly.

However, I don't think he's as big of a loss as will be made out. Seeing how Oli Sail has played this season in his limited opportunities, and knowing that Kurto had a good-but-not-great reputation from the Polish leagues coming into the beginning of the season, I feel that our goalkeeping coach, Paul Gothard, deserves a lot more credit than he receives. I think we will be okay in net next season whether our keeper is Sail, Marinovic or any other competent player.

I can handle the keeper going if we get Stefan as he is just as good, and while I think he potentially will be a very very good a league player, Burgess as we have Singh whom will be better.

Need Ufak to be on the blower straight away to Krishna who is irreplaceable.

The next call to Williams who is also pretty close to being irreplaceable.

Then into the Turkish leagues to find some midfield foreign gems and a centre back

Yeah, but we want depth. Having Burgess AND Singh gives us two players capable of fulfilling the same role, and in tandem with one deeper they can be formidable I reckon.

I'm not sure why it would come down to this but if we were only able to keep one of Williams or Burgess, I'm taking Burgess every day. Don't get me wrong, Williams was phenomenal for us this season and I loved having him on the team, but the season he had was such an anomaly compared to the rest of his career, plus he's not getting any younger, that I really have my doubts over whether he'd carry the same form over to next season.

Yeah I've been thinking, out of our core he's the one I'd mind losing the least. Great player but it comes down to age

I'm gonna go on the record saying retaining Burgess is of the same importance as Krishna. Obviously Roy is a goal scoring machine but Burgess has proven himself as a CM and AMF and is one of the best dribblers in the league

Securing a solid NZ/Aus keeper, and re-signing Burgess would be a good foundation to build on, would leave us with plenty of money and visa spots avaliable.

Another huge plus with keeping Burgess is that Talay played a very similar style to him in his hay-day. Surely Ufuk would actually be the best current coach in the league for Max's development.

But also Burgess can cover Rufer and play deeper. Both worth signing IMO.

Locking in Rufer,Burgess and Singh must be on Talay's agenda, obviously Roy. Lock in those and its really only a keeper, and some defenders that we need to lock in. Depending on the shape and style of play we are moving into.

I'm assuming that the early announcement may also pave the way for an announcement about where Mr Rudan is next headed (a 'gentleman's' agreement about the order in which things are done?).

I have no idea where, though.

I know, I know, its serious!

Ufuk Talay and David Williams know each other from NQ Fury days. I think this might sway Willow to stick around for another season.... If we could hold onto Roy and Willow that would be a huge bonus for us.

Found this. Not sure if accurate, but seems about right.

The link has the pronounciation right.

The first vowel "U" is the same sound an English speaker would use for Uber, or U-Bahn.

Very happy with this announcement. Didn't expect it (who did?) to occur the day after our season finished, but at least show's that we're being proactive and actually learning lessons from years gone by, and well, it gives us pretty much the maximum amount of time before next season kicks off to get things in order.

Top of the agenda - To lock in Krishna and Williams ASAP. I'll hazard a guess and say Krishna will need to be upgraded to marquee status with the appropriate $$$ to keep ahold of him, don't think many people would begrudge him that. Would be a symbolic moment for the club if he does get such a contract though.

Pretty much a blank canvas after that, we've got the youngsters locked in and excluding Taylor, 4 import slots available to get the players that will fit his style and set up. It sounds as though he has the same proclivity for hard work and teamwork/ethics as Rudan so am already looking forward to the next campaign and seeing who will be brought in between now and then.
