The goal celebration from Adnan is awesome. He must be gutted that he was outclassed by a fan.

If you listen to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VLhvRFlnwZk&feature=youtu.be Adnan even times his falling to the ground with the commentator saying "At the death".

Genius.

Very surprised, not too worried that there are no suspensions though.

I'm not hugely surprised. I don't think a single punch/strike was thrown.

Surely inciting like that brings the game into disrepute though?

With due respect, absolutely not nothing.

I expected at least a one game ban for bringing the sport into disrepute, but don't mind that there is no punishment.

Or just suspend him for 8 weeks for being racist because one player said he was being racist...

In Dutch making rude comments about someone's family is a term of endearment.

In Albanian, telling someone to go outside and get it on means that they should be friends on facebook.

Really they should just shake hands and have a cup of tea afterwards.

(Thanks Sepp - I'm so glad FIFA can take the lead in these matters)

No, but it does need to be based on race (or at least that needs to be implied), and I can't see how either scenario works in this situation.

Indeed. Just pointing out that this is a completely different situation, even if the original post was not meant to be serious (though I'm not too sure about that, you never know here).

So you could not imagine a sceanrio where Bosschart called him a smelly gypo or something about his salary being equivalent to Albanias national savings or some such?

Or Beshart calling him a clog wearing crackhead from Amsterdam?

I can perfectly imagine any of those scenarios - but none of those things would amount to racism, since the thrust of the insult would be on a national/ethnic basis, rather than race.

Is that not the same thing????? "Racism" and "racial discrimination" are often used to describe discrimination on an ethnic or cultural basis

Fair enough, though from what the things you mentioned only the gypo comment would be an ethnic insult, the rest would just be trash talk.

Guess my general point is that it is trivialising the true and sinister nature of racism by putting it in the context of an argument between two (not too bright) European footballers.

Berisha handed one match ban
Thursday, 19 January 2012 6:51 PM
?

Football Federation Australia (FFA) has determined that Brisbane Roar Player, Besart Berisha has breached the National Code of Conduct (Code) for his actions at the conclusion of the Hyundai A-League 2011/12 Week 15 match between Brisbane Roar and Sydney FC.

Specifically, the Player has been found to be in breach of the following provisions of the Code;

 Clause 2.2(c): offensive behavior, including offensive, obscene, provocative or insulting gestures, language or chanting;
 Clause 2.2(d): provocation or incitement of hatred or violence;
 Clause 6.1(a), a Professional Player must at all times behave in a manner that promotes and upholds the highest standards of integrity, dignity and professionalism.

FFA has determined that the following sanction shall be applicable:

A one (1) match suspension plus a one (1) match suspended sanction. This one (1) match suspended sanction shall only be triggered in the event that the Player is found to have committed a further breach of the Code prior to the end of the Hyundai A-League season, including finals.

Brisbane Roar has been given seven business days to appeal.

Not really. What he did is hardly model behaviour for the game.

Fair enough, can't argue with the FFA there. What does confuse me was that they came out and said that neither player would get a suspension earlier in the week.

That gets me too. My guess is that there are a few facts not quite in the public domain and we may or may not ever hear all of them.

The Match Review Comittee decided they had nothing to cite them for.  The FFA biffed him for brining the game into disrepute.

Now, while the Brisbane fans are I'm sure asking why Boschaart didn't go it's because no one in the crowd or on TV has any idea what was actually said but Berisha's actions were clearly visible.

Neither is diving, card waving, surrounding the ref, feigning injury, or two footing someone.

Three for me, and two for them.
