Relatively happy with the degree to which the Steam Engines dominated their game tonight...

Good 3-0 win over Earthquake City to move right back to a tie at the top, three-team race

01 Jun 07:37

Playing the best team in my division, their 4.5 star, 39.5 routine CM got injured and the replacement is.....

.... a 16yo kid, 1.5 stars, 0.1 routine. Still 0-0. Feeling a bit more confident now.

a good win but now another suspension....   next game is against someone above me on the table... need the win to have a good chance of making the playoffs.... so many injuries/suspensions all of a sudden and all to my best players.

going to try flood the midfield and dominate the possession hopefully turning it into goals.

Thoughts?

Trains got smashed up by Thunderthighs in the league tonight. It was Ed Moir's first game for the first team. TTU lead 2 - 1 at half time and then got a third in the 45th minute and 4th in the 46th minute. *sigh*.

And Tim Hickey sustained a 6 game injury too.

On the bright side, the Steam Engines beat B Sky Valley 1 - 6.

Morale is low at Homebush Road tonight.

Haven't had much time in the last couple of weeks, but the assistant manager has obviously been doing OK as we are back on top of the table, one point ahead of the whips. Straightforward 4-0 win tonight too.

08 Jun 23:40

a 4-0 win away with 5 players out. got to be happy with that.

next game i got 4 of them back to but it is against the clear best team in the league.... and 5th place is breathing down my neck

Steam Engines beat the Peow FC Reserves 1 - 4 last night.

Meanwhile, the Trains horror slump continues, losing 5 - 4 away.

Finally! The Trains get a league win, 3 - 1 at The Bush vs. Nelson AFC.

Top of the table Chickens held 1 - 1 at home by TTU. 0 - 0 after 83 mins, then Thunderthighs scored, and 2 mins later Askew gets the equaliser.

1 - 0 away win to stay four points clear of the whips. We play each other in the final game of the season, and I wouldn't be surprised if that was a title decider.

Really hoping I can close the game to make it so, but have dropped some points against some very poor teams which will cost me. We are well clear of the pack, but I'm sick of finishing 2nd and getting knocked out in the playoffs! So 1st or bust for me

Huge game between Halcones Juniors and the Steam Engines tonight.

Just 3 games to go, my season goals were:

Finish in the top 12

1 win in the Cup

Score more than 50 goals

Concede less than 60 goals

Currently sitting 8th with 56 goals for and 57 against, and had one win in the Cup!

Playing 13th placed AD Fafe, 3rd placed Bay of A Few, and 4th placed Hamilton KV.

Will be absolutely chuffed if I can keep the goals against under 60.

03 Jul 09:24

Sitting in 4th. Might squeeze into the playoffs. Should win next 3 on paper but the next team seems to be my bogey team

All but won the league. 1 - 0 win while the Whips were held to a scoreless draw by Thorp Arch Academy -- went down to 10 after 28 minutes and didn't get much possession after that. 6 points clear of the Whips and a goal difference lead of 13. We play Tawa AFC (9th) next while Waikato is up against the fourth placed team (highest scorers in the league) before our showdown on the last day of the season.

05 Jul 06:47

Lost 1-0 to AD Fafe away.

Pressure on to keep those last two goals out against the bigger teams

This season is annoying, if I don't make get promotion I'm going to splurge all my money on players to get it done next season, no more messing about in 2nd place

06 Jul 08:45

Stop worrying about the whips, and focus on the national team!!!

Wrapped up the league with a fairly boring 1 - 1 draw in Tawa. At least we got out out with our lives -- not even any serious injuries, are times changing in Tawa? Wednesdays game between us and the whips is now fairly meaningless as they are guaranteed second spot (and have been for some time in fact -- we've put a good gap between the two of us and the rest).

Ivan Hyde ends his season with 21 goals in just 20 games, at age 18 years and 5 months, rated 3.8 stars, it looks like he'll be embarking on his first full season in the prems next season after 8 sporadic games with them early in his career.

Finished fifth but certainly showed our intent in the last game of the season. I won't spoil the scoreline for you but well worth a look -

Won 1 cup match

Finished in the top 12

scored over 50 goals

Pretty happy with that result really.  Might need to bump up the parking at the stadium, then add some more seats

10 Jul 07:27

Another regular season in the books - 24 wins, 6 draws and 4 losses. 78 points, 69 goals scored to 23 against.

And yet, back to the playoffs I go! Hopefully I can finally pull out a promotion.

Yeah sadly I was already over my sponsor target for goals already so it didn't really count for much but did push a few guys up the golden boot tally that's for sure
